Allegan County Transportation will be running a limited number of busses for essential medical appointments on Monday September 7th. Employment trips will be fulfilled as routes to medical appointment locations allow.

Bus service will resume as normal on Tuesday, September 8th.

Today is Election Day!

Today, Allegan County voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots, including voting on the renewal of the Allegan County Senior Millage. The Senior Millage helps fund services that support older adults throughout our community, including senior transportation, home-delivered meals, in-home services, and other programs that help seniors remain independent.

If you're voting in person, polls are open today from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Last month, our Senior Transportation program reached an incredible milestone: more than 600 trips were coordinated in July - the highest monthly total in our program's history!

Behind every one of those trips is a story. A senior getting to a medical appointment. A veteran accessing essential services. A neighbor maintaining their independence.

This achievement was made possible through the dedication of one full-time employee coordinating every ride, our amazing volunteer drivers who donated their time to serve the community, and our ACT bus operators who helped ensure passengers reached their destinations safely and reliably.

More than a number, 600 trips represents 600 opportunities for older adults to remain independent, connected, and healthy. It reflects the power of teamwork and the incredible impact our employees, volunteers, and public transit service have on the lives of Allegan County residents every day.

We are seeing an increase in education-related trips as a result of this wonderful community partnership.

According to Allegan Online & Adult Education, "This grant helps us provide our students with a means of transportation to come into the school to get support from their teachers; transportation is a large barrier for many of our families and the resource that we are able to provide them (bus tickets for Allegan County Transport) makes education more accessible to more of our learners."

We are excited to share event information from one of our partner-organizations, West Michigan Regional Airport. Mark your calendars for Aviation Day on August 15th! This fun, family-friendly event has something for everyone.

Don’t Go Out… Go Up!

Join us on August 15 for our celebration of National Aviation Day, and get the chance to experience history from the sky aboard the WWII transport airplane, C-47 “Hairless Joe.”

This 30 minute adventure features approximately 15 minutes of flight time. Once airborne, passengers may move around the cabin to photograph the landscape, cockpit and original paratrooper static line.
