Thanks to our amazing sponsor, Brook Haas with Brightwater / Kinetico DSM, for partnering with us to keep our healthy and hydrated. Each of our locations is now equipped with one or more state-of-the-art reverse osmosis systems. We have received great reviews so far.

Message for Central Elementary families.

In speaking with MidAmerican Energy, we will NOT have power fully restored today.

We will be dismissing Central students at 11 am. There will be no PM preschool. Please call the district office (515-984-3400 x2000) to get information to the building for any changes to typical student dismissal plans OR email [email protected]. Buses will run as normal starting at 11am. We will unfortunately not be able to feed students lunch. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you.

Transportation information is now available in the UniteGPS/Crosswalk Parent Portal. This is the same portal that we used last year.
-If you registered when the information was sent out in January, you do not need to do anything other than check back for updated information for this upcoming year’s routes.
-If you are new to the portal, look for for an email from “UniteGPS” with the subject line of “North Polk Community School District Transportation” after you register. You may need to check your SPAM folder.

Please take a moment to log in and review your student’s transportation information, including their bus stop location, pick-up/drop-off times, and route number/designated animal.

A few important notes as we get closer to the start of school:
-If you registered for transportation after the June 1st deadline, your email from UniteGPS will arrive once your child is assigned transportation.
-Special Education and preschool routes will be added as soon as possible.
-Due to the ongoing construction at the roundabout in Polk City, bus times are not yet finalized. Please check the Crosswalk Parent Portal again, closer to the start of school.

If you have questions or notice an issue with your student’s transportation information, please email Marcy Hanigan ([email protected]).
Thank you for your patience as we work through the final details and get ready for another great school year!

A wonderful story featuring one of our North Polk Middle School students, his family, and the other Comets joining his journey during the Polk County and Iowa State Fairs.

Sam Engler, a 12-year-old from Polk County, is enjoying his tenth year of showing animals at the fair. Calyn Thompson found out how organizations joined in to make sure he was back in the ring this year. Story link ⬇️.

WATER! WATER! WATER! 💧

In case you missed it, BrightWater Home Services donor agreement was approved at this past Monday's School Board Meeting. The district now has reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration systems in all five schools. This was made possible with the generosity and partnership with BrightWater Home Services.

The water filtration systems are now available for students and staff members. The student fountains with the filtration will be identifiable with the BrightWater logo. Most of these bottle-filling stations are located in or adjacent to the cafeterias. RO systems remove more than 91% of nitrates in the drinking water. If you would like more information on how the systems work, please visit: kineticodesmoines.com/filtration.

The safety and well-being of students and staff are our top priority, and with this donation of more than $26,000 of equipment and labor, our students now have healthy drinking water.
