250 years ago, a group of regular citizens put ink to parchment and committed to a radical idea: that freedom is an inherent human right.

Today, as we look back on a quarter-millennium of that great experiment, we are reminded that liberty is not a static piece of history. It is a living inheritance.

The promises made in 1776 were not completely fulfilled on day one. They are a continuous challenge, passed down from one generation to the next, to keep building a more perfect union.

Let's celebrate how far we have come, appreciate the distance we still have to travel, and recommit to the hard work of freedom.

Have a safe, happy, and truly historic Fourth. 🎇

I am grateful to share that at the recent TASB Legislative Advisory Council (LAC) meeting in San Antonio, I was elected by my fellow trustees from across Texas to serve as one of four at-large members of the TASB Board of Directors' Legislative Committee.

To be selected from a body of 108 public education advocates across Texas is not something I take lightly. The TASB Board Legislative Committee is a dedicated subcommittee of the TASB Board of Directors responsible for monitoring advocacy progress and guiding the association's legislative and regulatory agenda at the state level; in practical terms, it is the body that helps shape how TASB engages the Texas Legislature on behalf of public school districts across the state.

With the next legislative session approaching, the work of this committee carries real weight. My priorities going in remain what they have always been: ensuring that local campus realities and fiscal needs are represented in state-level discussions, advocating for adequate resources and sound governance for public school districts, and bringing that statewide perspective back to Allen in a way that informs rather than merely reports.

Thank you to my fellow LAC members for your confidence, and to the Allen community for your continued trust.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with yesterday’s post about our school funding challenges. The response shows just how deeply we all care about the future of our community and our kids.

While the policy conversations in Austin are incredibly complex, our focus here at home remains simple: supporting our teachers, protecting our classrooms, and ensuring every student in Allen ISD has what they need to thrive.

This isn't about politics, it is about the math, transparency, and doing right by our neighborhood schools. Moving forward, the goal is to keep our community informed, united, and actively engaged with our state leaders so we can find a sustainable path forward.

I want to hear from you: What are the primary strengths you want to see protected in our schools as we navigate this budget season together? Let’s keep the conversation constructive below. 👇

Memorial Day is a heavy, sacred reminder of the true cost of freedom. It’s not about barbecues or sales; it is about the men and women who gave up all of their tomorrows so we could live in liberty today.

True freedom means the right to speak our minds, bear arms to protect our families, and govern ourselves at the local and state level without federal overreach. None of those rights are free. They were paid for in advance by patriots who laid down their lives for the Constitution.

The best way we can honor their ultimate sacrifice here in Allen is by fiercely defending those foundational principles, demanding fiscal responsibility from our government, keeping our national defense unshakeable, and protecting our local sovereignty.

Let’s teach the next generation what this day really means. God bless our fallen heroes, and God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Diesel prices in the U.S. have soared 67% since December and that is putting a strain on many school districts’ budgets. MORE BELOW ⬇️

Soaring diesel prices since the onset of the Iran war are draining already tight U.S. school district budgets, making it more expensive to bus students and run generators in a shock officials say they will not be able to afford for long.
