On this day, we solemnly remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, and the incredible acts of heroism that emerged from the chaos. The brave men and women of our emergency response teams demonstrated unmatched courage and selflessness, reminding us of the true meaning of heroism. Let us never forget their sacrifice and honor their memory by standing together as a united and resilient nation.
In the month of August, we want to talk about "Heat Safety." As summer temperatures reach their pinnacle, it's important to remind everyone of the risks associated with excessive heat and provide guidance on how to stay safe. We've provided a short list of tips that will make the summer heat a little less dangerous should you follow them:
๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine consumption as they can contribute to dehydration.
๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ธ ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐น: Seek shade during the hottest parts of the day, especially between 10 am and 4 pm. Use fans, air conditioning, or cooling centers to keep cool at home or in public spaces.
๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ช๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐: We recommend wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made of breathable fabrics to help stay cool. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses can also provide additional protection from the sun.

๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ: Apply sunscreen with a high SPF to exposed skin and reapply it regularly. Be sure to check the expiration dates on those sunscreens and lotions to ensure they're the most effective they can be for you and your family.
๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฉ๐๐น๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ๐น๐: Regularly check on elderly neighbors, young children, and those with chronic illnesses who may be more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
Your reminders and sharing of these safety tips will keep our community safe from heat-related illness, injury, and dangers that could lead to death, especially during the month of August.
As we approach the 4th of July, let's take a moment to review these essential tips that will help make your holiday weekend in our great community enjoyable and free from accidents. ๐บ๐ธ
1. Grill Like a Pro: BBQs are a 4th of July staple, but ensure your grilling area is well-ventilated, away from flammable materials, and supervised at all times.
2. Swim and Splash, Safely Dash: Whether you're hitting the beach, pool, or lakeside, water safety is key. Keep a watchful eye on children at all times, make sure everyone knows their swimming abilities, and never underestimate the power of life jackets.
3. Firework Fun, Responsibility #1: Fireworks can dazzle, but they're not toys. Leave the big bangs to the pros and enjoy our local public displays responsibly.
4. Beat the Heat: Summer brings sizzling temperatures, so stay cool, seek shade when you need a break from the sun, stay hydrated with water, and wear lightweight clothing to keep that summer heat at bay. Remember, a sunburn is not fun, so be sure to wear and reapply sunscreen regularly.
5. Designated Driver, Hero of the Night: We know you may be raising a glass or two to celebrate America's Birthday, but please don't mix drinking and driving. Designate a sober driver in advance, use rideshare services, or crash at a friend's place.
With these safety tips in mind, we can all contribute to a 4th of July weekend that is both enjoyable and secure. Let's celebrate our nation's independence responsibly as a strong community.

Major Crash on US 75 at Stacy Road. Expect delays in all directions for the remainder of the evening and into tonight. Seek alternate routes. the East Service Road from Cabelaโs Drive to Stacy Rd will be shutdown.
On this day, 21 years ago, our nation faced unimaginable tragedy. The attacks on the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the crashing of Flight 93 completely changed the lives of many people all around the country.
Our safety was threatened, but our emergency responders rose to the occasion to protect as many as they possibly could. Tragically, we lost 403 good guys that day as they answered the distress calls. In the years following, we've lost nearly double that many good guys to 9/11-related illnesses.
Today, and every day, we honor the emergency responders who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their community. We should also join together and thank all of our emergency responders around the country and right here in our own backyard who continue to uphold the noble tradition of protecting our community's safety, rights, and freedom.
We vow to Never Forget the lives lost, to honor their memory, and to continue to protect you and your families in times of need.
Labor Day is a day to honor the hardwork and advocacy of the people before us who made working conditions safer and celebrate those who continue that work to this day. Declared a national holiday in 1894, we've celebrated their work with a day off for relaxation, rest, and BBQ-ing up some good for for our friends, families, and coworkers.
As you celebrate this holiday, please be sure that you adhere to these safety tips:
- Always stay within arm's reach of children while they're in water
- Keep at least 2 buckets of water near any open BBQ or bonfire flames at all times
- Make sure you, your littles, and your pets are adequately hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke
- Stay sober while working the BBQ, monitoring children, and driving to and from the grocery store or your festivities

UPDATE - OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
On September 26, 2022, Josiah Perez, 25 year old Sachse resident, was arraigned on two charges of Attempted Capital Murder as a result of his ambush of two Sachse Police Officers on September 2, 2022. Mr. Perez has remained hospitalized at an area hospital and has recovered to a point that he could be arraigned on the charges. The motive for the shooting is still unclear. The Texas Rangers are continuing their investigation and will file two cases with the Collin County District Attorneyโs Office. The two officers who were ambushed by Perez continue to recover but are expected to return to duty in the upcoming weeks. We acknowledge and appreciate the support of the public during this difficult time. For any additional information, please monitor the Sachse Police Department page, the department website or contact the Texas Rangers.
OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
On September 2, 2022, at approximately 12:00 am, two Sachse Police Officers were in the parking lot of Medpost Urgent Care located at 7760 State Highway 78 in Sachse on an unrelated call for service. While completing the call for service, a subject walked up to the driver side of the police vehicle and fired a shotgun through the window of the police vehicle. The officer sitting in the driver side seat was struck in the head from the shotgun blast. The second officer returned fire, striking the subject. Both officers and the suspect were taken to an area hospital for their injuries. Both officers received non-life threatening injuries and were treated and released from the hospital. The suspect was undergoing surgery at the time of this release. As per Department protocol, the Texas Rangers were notified and responded to the scene. The Texas Rangers will be conducting the investigation surrounding this incident. All inquiries should be directed to DPS โ Ranger Division.

Here are some safety tips to help keep everyone safe:
- Keep an eye on all children whenever they're in or near the water
- Always have a bucket of water prepped and ready in case of fire while grilling
- Leave the fireworks to the professionals; no amateur shows please
- Have young ones wear ear protection during any fireworks shows to protect their hearing

Hope has been located and is safe! APD would like to thank everyone that helped with locating her.
**Critical Missing**
The Allen Police Department is asking for help in locating Quada, Hope (white female/5'2/160 lbs). Hope was last seen wearing dark colored jeans with a gray shirt with butterflies on the front and black slide sandals in the 1600 block of Roma Ct. She was last seen at approximately 11pm on June 18th. Hope suffers from a cognitive disorder that will make it difficult to find her way home without assistance. If contacted Hope is be able to identify herself and her address.
Contact the Allen Police Department at 214-509-4321 if you have any information on the whereabout of Hope.
Just a reminder tonight is the Allen high school graduation. Traffic will be bad in the area surrounding the football stadium. Please avoid the area if not attending to avoid the traffic congestions. On behalf of the Allen police association Congrats to all the seniors.
