GVSU Art Museum Explore. Discover. Share. In addition, the Art Gallery has 5 rotating exhibition galleries that change every semester.

The permanent collection now numbers nearly 20,000 works of art, most of which are on view in university buildings on campuses in Allendale, Grand Rapids, Holland, Muskegon, Detroit, and Traverse City.

In Winter of 2024, the HST 415 Class worked with GVSU Art Museum staff to create a new exhibition that was just installed!

As part of the class, the students helped accession new objects, all made from different types of metal, into the collection. From those objects, they selected a theme for the exhibition- Art Nouveau!

They then presented an exhibition design, complete with a list of objects, text panels, object labels, and a design plan. That exhibit is now installed in DeVos Building E- in an Art Museum case just around the corner from the Gordon Gallery. Next time you’re on the City Campus, make sure to check out this exhibition that the HST 415 class created!
