Engine 31 along with Chief 31 responded to South Whitehall early this morning as mutual aid for a working dwelling fire. The crew assisted with search and overhaul.
Today just after 0400hrs, Station 32 and surrounding companies were dispatched to the 2800 block of Helen Street for a reported dwelling fire. Chief 32 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing out of the front window on the first floor, making it a working fire. Engine 32 arrived on scene as the first due engine, with Tower 3 and Air 32 arriving just behind them. Crews quickly forced entry, initiated a fire attack, and began searches of the dwelling. One victim was found on the second floor and was unfortunately pronounced deceased on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.
