Just a quick shout out to the Smith brothers; without you we wouldn't have gotten the tire loaded. Not many realize how much one of those weigh. Your help was appreciated, thank you.

It will be held in the Commissioner Room of the Courthouse on February 5th at 1:00p.m.. Please contact the office at 762-6797 if you have any questions.

Good morning. Today finds us still out removing snow and hoping for warmer temperatures. As with most people, the bitter cold temps have impacted our equipment and operation. We have adjusted and are moving forward. Stay safe and inside if at all possible.

Good morning. The motor graders and plow truck are out moving snow; plan your drive to allow for slick and drifted roads. Please allow extra distance between your vehicle and others. The sign on the back of our equipment tells you to stay back at least 100 feet. Have a safe day

Good afternoon and welcome December! With two measurable snowfalls this season already, we wish to share a bit of information to help others with planning. We have current copies of the mail and bus routes and have based our snow removal plan off those as well as the functional classifications and staffing. We are still looking to find two blade operators and two truck drivers, without a full staff there will be an impact the timeliness of snow removal. Depending on the type of snow, our truck driver will either be in a blade or the plow truck and remaining personnel will adapt.
Our policy is the same as past years for removing stuck vehicles and plowing drives for seniors or those with a medical necessity. If there is no one in the vehicle, a license plate number will be provided to the Sheriff's Department; if anyone is with the vehicle they will be asked to sign a release before the vehicle is moved. If there are people needing their driveways opened, have met the criteria and have already called our office to make arrangements; we will open them but it may not be on the first pass. This portion of the policy was abused by some last year; if attempts are made to circumvent the policy it will be removed.
If you have any questions regarding this post or the Snow Removal Policy, feel free to contact the office at 308-762-6797.
Stay safe

While rumors are very damaging; I will chance the risk of spreading the truth and not a rumor. We have been notified of an increased loss in unattended fuel supplies. Please pay attention to where you park your equipment/vehicles, monitor your bulk supply stations and report anything that is out of the normal to a local law enforcement agency. The phone number for the Box Butte County Sheriff's Department is 308-762-6464. On a different note there were specific sign related damages last night. Together we can stop this and have a good harvest; stay safe.
