It is with great sympathy and sadness that we announce the passing of retired Marlboro Fire Chief Eugene A. Devies.

Gene served with the Marlboro Township Volunteer Fire Company since the age of 15. He served as Assistant Chief from July 18, 1978, to December 31, 1979. He then served as Chief from January 1, 1980, to December 31, 1994, when he retired.

Gene and his family have been an integral part of Marlboro Fire and Marlboro Township as a whole. Gene’s father, Eugene C. Devies, was Marlboro Fire Chief from 1951 to 1960. His brother Ron (current Marlboro Police Chief and successor to their brother, MPD Chief Denny Devies) served as a long-time Captain on Marlboro Fire, as did Gene’s sons Rob (retired Lieutenant, Alliance Fire) and Mike (retired Captain, MFCo). Gene’s nephew Kyle also served as a firefighter/EMT in Marlboro.

Needless to say, Marlboro Fire is heartbroken for the entire Devies family, and we wish to extend our sincerest gratitude for their family’s commitment, dedication, and sacrifice to the Marlboro Township Volunteer Fire Company.

Rest easy, Chief Devies.

Marlboro Fire is proud to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom this Memorial Day!

Thank you to all who came out to our Marlboro Memorial Day Parade to pay homage to our fallen veterans and thank you to those that supported Marlboro Fire at our Lunch on the Square on this beautiful day!

Today's the day! Lunch will be served from11am to around 1pm. We will have hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, chips, and drinks for sale. All proceeds benefit the Marlboro Firefighters Association. The parade kicks off at 1pm. Hope to see everyone here!
