This is huge for Wisconsin!

I couldn’t be more excited to congratulate Marinette Marine on winning the contract for the future frigate. This announcement is a testament to the hard work of every worker at the shipyard, and means thousands of Wisconsinites will have good paying jobs for decades to come.

8th District Congressman Mike Gallagher appeals to Governor Evers for a bi-partisan approach to Opening Up Wisconsin! Alternative bi-partisan solutions from the ground up is key.

‪Without strong, bipartisan leadership, we can only expect our state to become further divided. Today I called on the Governor to avoid that division by taking a bottom-up, bipartisan approach to reopening our economy that places trust in our local communities and Wisconsinites.‬

Wisconsin State Representative Robin Vos

Statement: Legislature Takes Gov. Evers to Court

[Madison, WI] – Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) released the following statement after filing an original action in the Wisconsin State Supreme Court challenging the governor’s extension of the Safer at Home order through May 26th.

“The public outcry over the Safer at Home order continues to increase as positive COVID cases decrease or remain flat. There’s immense frustration regarding the extension, as it goes beyond the executive branch’s statutory powers. Wisconsinites are forced to sit by with no voice in the process. Other Midwestern states with more confirmed cases, like Ohio, have set firm dates to begin a phased reopening far earlier than the Evers administration.

“The governor has denied the people a voice through this unprecedented administrative overreach. Unfortunately, that leaves the legislature no choice but to ask the Supreme Court to rein in this obvious abuse of power. Wisconsinites deserve certainty, transparency, and a plan to end the constant stream of executive orders that are eroding both the economy and their liberty even as the state is clearly seeing a decline in COVID infections.”

Rep. Mike Gallagher

Great message from Congressman Gallagher on the shut down in Wisconsin.

While I’m under no illusion we can or should reopen Wisconsin tomorrow, it’s concerning to see parks and running trails closing at the very time we need them most. We have to trust Wisconsinites to be responsible, particularly when it comes to healthy outdoor activities.

Ultimately, we need bottom-up, community-oriented solutions to reopening our economy when the time is right. Green Bay is much different than Milwaukee, let alone Brillion and Door County. We have to start using common sense to figure out how we can safely get back to work.

As I (Chairman Fitzgerald) understand it, the National Guard were given a warning order to prepare last week. All would have been from Brown County. They would have reported to NG HQ on military. Clerk could have trained all at that facility. NG would have helped set up additional polling places. Could have used the NG HQ as a polling place. It’s a shame what the Mayor did to suppress the vote in the City of Green Bay!

(Green Bay, WI) (PRESS RELEASE) Republican Party of Brown County Chairman James Fitzgerald shares the disappointment with his fellow voters in the City of Green Bay. “I reached out to Mayor Genrich on March 30, imploring him to apply all the necessary resources to run a smooth election on April 7”, and heard nothing. Today, we see the results of his inaction.
While other large municipalities, including Madison, had no difficulties processing the vote today, Green Bay, fell short leaving long lines and frustrated voters.” Mayor Genrich’s refusal to use trained National Guard’s men and women exhibited a classic failure in judgement and leadership. We applaud all the resilient poll workers who persevered the integrity of the ballot box.

WisGOP Statement on Gov. Tony Evers’ Unconstitutional Maneuver to Postpone the April 7 Election [Madison, WI] – In response to Gov. Tony Evers’ unconstitutional maneuver to postpone the April 7 election, the Republican Party of Wisconsin issued the following statement from Chairman Andrew Hitt:

“It is tragic to see such a reckless disregard for the Constitution from Gov. Tony Evers who just days ago admitted he did not have the power to change the election. His admission will weigh heavily on the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision, so we are left to conclude that the Governor is playing politics with something as precious as our democracy. The Republican Party will continue to fight for the rule of law.”
