Alma District Fire Department The Alma District Fire Department is responsible for 140 square miles, including the City of Alma, and parts of Pine River, Arcada, Sumner and Seville Twp.

The mission of the Alma District Fire Department is to enhance the quality of living in our community by preventing or minimizing injury and loss of life or property, resulting from fire or other emergency, natural, or human caused, that may occur within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Alma Fire District. Our goals: Prevent and reduce fire risks through public education, code enforcement and

inspection programs; minimize injury or the loss of life and property when fire or other emergencies occur; confine and extinguish hostile fires; and provide these protections at acceptable and effective costs when available.

Another busy weekend for us. We were in attendance at the Montcalm County Honor Guard golf outing to support them and pay respect for all of their help last fall in Chief House’s funeral. We also had a crew at a live propane fire training event. Thank you to St. Louis Fire Department for hosting the training and to Scotland Oil for putting on the training.

After successfully completing more than 400 hours of executive-level training through Michigan State University’s Staff and Command Program, Sgt. Christopher Drury graduated today.
This intensive program is designed to develop current and future law enforcement leaders through advanced instruction in leadership, management, organizational effectiveness, and contemporary policing issues.

Please pay attention to the weather today. Yesterday was a little crazy and predictions for today are looking worse. Please plan ahead now and be prepared. As always, stay at least 25 feet away from any downed power lines and call 911 or Consumers Energy to report them right away.

We are hiring!

The Alma District Fire Department is looking to add a Firefighter to the team. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid State of Michigan Vehicle Operator's License. Michigan Firefighters Training Council Certification as a Firefighter I and II are preferred but not required.

All interested applicants should visit https://myalma.org/employment.php for the full job description and a copy of the City of Alma Application. Applications can also be picked up at City Hall during regular office hours. Deadline to apply is June 1, 2026.
