We have received several calls today regarding individuals claiming to be members of our Sheriff’s Office. It appears that someone may be impersonating our department and contacting members of the public.
If you receive a call and have concerns, or if you believe you may be the target of a scam, please contact our agency directly at 608-685-4433 (option 2) to verify whether a deputy or Dispatch is attempting to speak with you.

As a reminder, our office will never ask you for sensitive personal or financial information, including your Social Security number, credit card information, or bank account information.

When in doubt, hang up and contact our agency directly to verify the call. Please help spread the word and share this post to help protect others from becoming victims of a scam.

Drive Safe This Buffalo County Fair Weekend! 🎡 Heading out to the Buffalo County Fair tonight or tomorrow? The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office wants everyone to enjoy the food, rides, and events safely. To keep our roads secure, extra deputies will be out conducting high-visibility enforcement tonight and tomorrow across the county. These extra shifts are funded by specialized Traffic Enforcement Grants focused on speed reduction and OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) prevention. Let's make it a memorable—and safe—fair weekend for all families traveling through the area. Slow down: Watch for increased fair traffic, pedestrians, and changing flow zones.Line up a sober driver: If your fair plans involve alcohol, designate a driver or plan a safe ride home before you head out. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. Let’s keep our county streets safe together!
