This is not posted for a debate on who should do what. We live in a farming community and yes tractors are getting larger and cars are going faster. Having the patience and courtesy (on both sides of the aisle) seems to be a missing factor when you mix farm implements with cars and trucks sharing the same highways in recent years! Mr. Bragger states it best below.

“We must all remember that everyone on the roadway has family and friends they want to return home to,” said Wisconsin Farm Bureau President Joe Bragger. “Farmers and motorists need to respect each other and work together to keep Wisconsin’s roadways safe this fall.”

The Coulee COVID-19 Compass uses local data to assess our risk status and provide actions people can take to protect themselves based on that status. The compass is updated weekly on Wednesdays so that our local data can help us understand how to be safe as the disease changes over time. To see more specific data on the Coulee COVID-19 Compass Dashboard, visit https://lacrossecounty.org/covid19compass.

Today, 7/8/20, Buffalo County has moved to High Risk 🟠 of COVID-19 spread because of the following:
🔴 Epidemiology Status: Remains in the red. Our daily testing surveillance has increased to 75% or above of our target goal (previously not met). However, we have seen an increase in positive COVID-19 cases causing epidemiology status to continue to be red.
🟢 Healthcare Status: Has not changed.
🟢 Public Health Status: Has changed to green because cases were referred to public health within 24 hours of test resulting.

⚠️See video in comments for today’s compass explanation as well as answers to last weeks questions.⚠️

See detailed High Risk 🟠 recommendations for our community by selecting “Buffalo” in the dropdown https://covid19compass/current-status-and-recommendations
.
.
.
Epidemiology status: Our ability to detect disease and understand what it is doing. This data includes number of tests being done to reflect the disease activity. It also looks at whether the disease activity is going up or down.

Healthcare Status: Healthcare system capacity to safely care for critically ill COVID-19 patients now and in the near future. This data includes critical care, ventilator, and personal protective equipment availability.

Public Health Status: The capacity of Public Health to prevent the transmission of disease among those at highest risk of spreading it. This data includes prompt notification of confirmed COVID-19 cases to public health and prompt follow-up to those confirmed cases and their close contacts to prevent further spread.

Click on link from Buffalo County Health Department for their risk assessment information.

Buffalo County Public Health received a lot of concerns and questions yesterday regarding our change of status from high to severe risk on the Coulee COVID-19 Data Dashboard. Each week, the data is assessed and our risk level and recommendations may change based on that data, so the Public Health Team will be posting a video along with the Coulee COVID-19 Data Dashboard Snapshot that addresses changes in the data and questions or concerns from the community. Please address any of your questions to [email protected]

The Public Health Team would urge you to look at any recommendations or guidance from other public health departments if you happen to be traveling outside of the county this weekend. As a reminder, you can enjoy Fourth of July activities while reducing the risk of spreading disease by keeping gatherings small, wearing face coverings, physically distancing yourself, and staying home if you’re sick.

This video was created on 7.2.2020 to provide further clarification about the Coulee COVID-19 data dashboard snapshot.

NEWS RELEASE
From the Wisconsin DOT, Division of State Patrol,
Bureau of Transportation Safety

Date: June 22- July 5th

Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office to mobilize for Click It or Ticket safety belt enforcement from June 22 – July 5th

Buffalo County Sheriff will join hundreds of law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin for the annual Click It or Ticket safety belt enforcement mobilization from June 22 – July 5th.
“Our officers will be on the lookout for unbuckled motorists. If you are not wearing a safety belt, we will stop your vehicle. During the Click It or Ticket mobilization and throughout the year, we enforce Wisconsin’s mandatory safety belt law to motivate motorists to buckle up every time they drive or ride in a vehicle. Tragically, too many people are needlessly injured or killed because they believed a crash would never happen to them so they did not buckle up.”
In Wisconsin, approximately one out of five motorists does not buckle up, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. More than half of the drivers and passengers killed in Wisconsin traffic crashes in 2011 were not wearing safety belts. Last year, there were more than 100,000 convictions for failure to fasten a seat belt.
“Consistent safety belt use is the most effective protection against being ejected from a vehicle during a crash or thrown around violently inside it and possibly hitting another person in the vehicle with massive force,” (rank, last name) says. “Our officers take safety belt enforcement seriously in an effort to reach the ultimate goal of zero preventable traffic deaths in Wisconsin.”

Good job tonight...glad nobody was hurt.
This afternoon while on Facebook, someone shared a post about a driver on Hwy 37 driving between Eau Claire and Mondovi. This driver is known for reckless driving, excessive speed, passing in no passing zones and almost hitting a bus. According to several people on this person's page, there have been complaints made to both the Buffalo County Sheriff's Dept. and the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Dept. People say nothing is being done. This post is being shared by many people....I suggest that both departments get the person who is putting so many lives at risk...because if there's an accident caused by this person, it's going to go viral that nothing was done to stop it. The person who posted the comment also has the license plate of the vehicle. Thank you for your service, and please, get this driver off the road.

Over 6 weeks later and 89-year-old veteran Tony Dantzman is still missing. Tony, who suffers from dementia, was visiting rural Winter, Wisconsin with his daughter and son-in-law for a family centennial reunion when he walked away from his motel room and disappeared. Search and Rescue canines lost his scent along County Highway W so it may be someone gave him a ride, hence our state- and country-wide search. His family in Wisconsin, and his daughters and son, and families and friends in California, are still hopeful that he is warm and safe somewhere in this big world. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! One very important thing that we've learned through all this is that residents and shelters have to sign up to receive Silver Alerts. Please, at your earliest convenience, go to your state Crime Alert Network site, create an account, and sign up to receive Amber, Silver and Green alerts. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! If anyone has information about Tony’s whereabouts, please contact the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office at 715-634-5213. He was last seen wearing a light colored checkered shirt, black vest, black pants and light colored cap. He is 5’9″, 136 lbs., with brown eyes, gray hair and usually wears glasses. - - - - - - - - - Physical Features - Tony has very crooked right hand index fingers. Material Items - He was wearing a ring on his right hand when he was last seen at the motel on August 30th. Other Things to Note - He was originally from Winter WI, was a merchant Mariner stationed out of Duluth MN, has been living in California for the past 60+ years and his hobbies include golf, ballroom dancing, singing, going for walks and going to casinos. - - - - - - - - - https://www.facebook.com/bringtonydantzmanhome/ #MissingPerson #SilverAlert #MissingVeteran #MissingInWisconsin #Wisconsin #California #SilverAlerts #Dementia #Veteran #MissingMarine
