Alright meow, let’s talk about that universal moment of panic, when you see those flashing blue lights behind you and suddenly start seizing up like Senator McConnell or Windows 95. I get it, even *I involuntarily tense up when I pass one of my own Deputies sometimes. Dead serious, I'll be at work (Sheriff'in) see a cop (muh Deputy) tense up, freak & go "OH 🤬...THE COPS!!" True story, immediately I become 16 years old again driving past a NJ State Trooper who IS FOR SURE THAT I'M Tony Montana & cannot wait to ruin my life 😎 so I get it & because I do;
First things first, if & when you get pulled over, please & thank you take a big ole deep breath, pull over safely. You can, yet we REALLY wish you didn't start off acting like a psycho, you totally can, it's not illegal, there's no law called "contempt of cop" & if you want to go all delta bravo, get yo 1A on, it won't help, you...yet you can. Also like those weird... Disney Adults or the operations of any Government anywhere, please no sudden movements, don't go all Post Office Mail Room Alien in Men In Black on your glove box, while yelling, it's weird. If it’s dark, please turn on your dome light.
Now, let’s get to the famous question: “Do you know why I pulled you over?” & the correct answer is:
"No idea" or
"I’m not sure" or
You don't have to say anything at all.
You have the right to remain silent, might as well use it before you need it.

Next up, do you have to, remain in the vehicle or exit the vehicle at any point, yes you do per the United States Supreme Court Case of Pennsylvania v. Mimms (1977) which says an officer CAN ask you to step out of the car during a lawful stop. So if they ask, go ahead and comply peacefully. That doesn’t mean the cops can treat you like garbage though. Respect goes both ways. A badge doesn’t override the Bill of Rights yet if you're asked to step out, go head and step out my guy.
That said, you DO have every right to *NEVER* consent to a search of your vehicle. Read that again. None. Zero. Nada. If an officer asks, you may politely say:
“I do not consent to any searches.”
That’s not being uncooperative, that’s exercising your rights.
Now, if we've got probable cause, we *WILL lawfully search your vehicle without consent and here (WBSO), we'll tell you exactly what we do before we do it & also the *why but please don’t ever just blindly consent to searches, know your rights, defend them, I'm doing that right now writing this for you because I think Americans & America & Cops are awesome yet its a better safer & happier life if we're all educated 🤝
You will never win any argument in life anyway, ask me how I know 😅 so you definitely won't win any argument or favors for arguing with a Cop roadside. If asked, told or lawfully ordered to do something, please comply. Please comply even if you think or maybe even know it's wrong, just happily comply as if the Cops mess up the court will sort it all out & you've just happily complied all the way to the bank yet roadside isn't court, don't scream your way into handcuffs.
Listen, most law enforcement officers, including my wonderful team are here to serve you & society. But there are some bad apples in every orchard, and I’ll tell you flat out I have no patience for em, I've arrested bad Cops & had no issue with it as we're all equal under the law yet we Peace Officers are held to a higher standard. A badge is our symbol of our willingness to serve & sacrifice to & for the greater good. You all deserve to be treated with dignity whether you’re a felon, a priest, a rancher, a teacher, a teenager with a heavy foot or some dangerously idiotic jerk hilariously screaming at me roadside about all the legal expertise he has from going to law school on YouTube 😅
I make sure my deputies ARE and remain constitutionally & civil rights literate, consistent, professional, respectful, and accountable. If you were drunk, you're going to jail. If you are violent, we will defend ourselves without hesitation. If you are rude, we will be understanding & no joke think "well this sucks yet he or she is probably just having a bad day." ❤️
If you get a ticket, don't spit at the Cop & go to jail ya silly goose! Also if we ask you if you know why we pulled you over, tell us you have no idea and make us do our jobs. Don’t ever confess to imaginary crimes & don't consent to searches even if you've got nothing to hide. If you ever feel your rights were violated, don’t fight it on the side of the road, fight it in court where the law is meant to work for you. Don't make it easy for us, we're pretty darn good at our jobs here & all this is an extension of that yet the biggest lesson is please comply roadside. Please. There are few things worse than senseless & unnecessary arrests or god forbid...violence.
We have reverence for you & will take lead with our responsibilities & obligations to you. Y'all have some responsibilities too & at some point, we just all stopped talking about it all and I thought that unacceptable so, I'm gonna do my part to change that because I'm a citizen first who has the honor to serve my people & want to actually improve life on Earth for all Mankind, like fr.
So please drive safe, stay free, and remember, rights aren’t something government gives you, they’re something you were born with & if you get pulled over we hope it's in Wabaunsee County Kansas, not really, idk maybe 🤷♂️😅🤝
