If you're a senior looking for help purchasing fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, the Senior Project FRESH Program may be available to you!
βœ… Receive $25 in benefits to purchase eligible Michigan-grown produce at participating farmers markets and roadside stands.
Who qualifies?
β€’ Adults 60 years and older who meet income guidelines
β€’ Adults 55+ who are members of a federally recognized tribe in Michigan
πŸ“… Program Dates: May 1, 2026 – October 31, 2026
🍎 Benefits can be used for eligible, unprocessed fruits and vegetables grown in Michigan.

Our Noon Meal is served from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
πŸ”Ή Ages 60 & Over: Hot meal with a suggested donation of $4.50
πŸ”Ή Under Age 60: Hot meal cost is $8.00
Federal and state grants cover only a portion of the cost of meals we provide. Donations play an important role in supporting the Alpena Senior Citizens Center and help us continue serving our community.

Today is National Senior Health and Fitness Day which is celebrated the last Wednesday of May. It is a day dedicated to the betterment of the health of seniors. The common goal is to help seniors stay fit and healthy. Today P***y from SkellaFit was here to do Chair Yoga, to assist our seniors to do just that. 😊

Today we celebrated Older Americans Month and the Senior of the Year.
Older American’s Month is an opportunity to celebrate healthy aging, independence, and connection. This years theme is β€œChampion Your Health,” focusing on prevention, wellness, and personal responsibility as cornerstones of healthy aging.
Congratulations πŸŽ‰to the Senior of the Year Nancy Smithem. Nancy is a force to be reckoned with - she is a giver of her time, compassionate, loves her family, gardening and entertaining. Nancy thanks for all you do for the Seniors and the Alpena Senior Citizens Center. We appreciate you!
