Do not burn anything besides dry landscape waste, and do not burn on windy days. It is illegal to burn Furniture, plastic, metals, tires, treated/painted wood, and mattresses in Illinois. You can receive fines from the EPA. We have have received complaints about some of these things being burned in and around town. Please have consideration for your neighbors and use common sense.

Today we helped burn off some CRP ground just east of town. It was a great opportunity to get some grass fire training.

With the threat of severe weather today, take it very serious! If we have to blow the siren go to your basement or an interior room of your home away from windows! The siren will go off for tornado warnings and winds over 60mph!

Critical fire weather today could lead to fires exhibiting extreme fire behavior. If you are considering burning, plan to do so on a later date, as conditions are ripe for fires to quickly become uncontrollable.
