Continuing our month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our music crew shared this message of bravery and resilience by Shakira during K-2 Community Circle this morning. Try Everything is a song about pushing through and refusing to give up, and it exemplifies our High Five Habits of Courage and Perseverance.

🔦 📚 📖 We're shining a spotlight on literacy!! In an effort to improve grade-level mastery in reading and ELA, we've been doing some initiatives to infuse joy and love of reading. Here are some photos from Kindergarten's "Read with a Stuffy," and "Flashlight Fridays," from the last few weeks.

K-5 Amana families - we hope you'll join us on October 13 for our K-5 Literacy Night to gain a better understanding of key literacy skills and leave with simple, doable strategies to support your child's reading growth at home.

October 2 is National Custodian Day and we’re celebrating Mr Jordy and Ms Yolanda! They do such a good job of keeping our school clean and safe every day. Be sure to thank them and tell them how much you appreciate them the next time you see them!

In the years since FCS Innovation Academy has opened, more and more of our students have chosen to apply there. They have just opened tours for interested families, and we encourage any 8th graders who are considering where they want to go to high school next year to explore what IA has to offer.

Today at Community Circle, we kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month by talking about the ELEducation design principle Diversity & Inclusion: both diversity and inclusion increase the richness of ideas, creative power, problem-solving ability, and respect for others. In EL Education schools, students investigate and value their different histories and talents as well as those of other communities and cultures. Check out these performances from Amana students showcasing Hispanic culture and heritage and highlighting the beautiful diversity that is our Amana community.

It's wonderful week 2 of the school year, but let's rewind ⏪to see how we got here. After completing preplanning week, Amana's Crew LOVED 🥰 meeting returning and new families at Base Camp and Open House! Drawing on our ELEducation school model, Base Camp (our version of new family orientation) promoted courage and adventure---parents 'circled-up' to get to know each other and learn the same classroom protocols their children were experiencing independently with teachers as a slice of life at Amana. Anchors aweigh!
