Our 8th graders celebrated their transition to high school this evening, and our alumni keynote speaker had some profound thoughts to share with them.

“There are schools that prepare you for a career. And then there are schools that prepare you for life. Amana is the second kind….While most schools teach you about the world, Amana taught you to respond to it….Year after year, Amana didn’t just teach you about the world’s problems. It trained you to be part of the solution. That training is not something every child has the opportunity to receive. Know how rare and powerful that is.

Being given the space to learn about the world, to ask hard questions, to use your hands and your hearts simultaneously — that is a privilege….

Hold onto that privilege. Not with guilt. But with gratitude. And with responsibility. Knowing that you have been entrusted with those privileges at your fingertips. The very definition of Amana is trust, so embody that definition into your work. You are entrusted with making sure that what once was poured into you — gets poured back out…

Whatever path you choose to walk, make sure you bring it back to your community, to the people who need it most, and to the world that shaped you.

Because progress without purpose is just motion. But progress in service of humanity? That is legacy.”

We had our annual Middle School Basketball Tournament today, and the championship game was a real nail biter all the way up to the final buzzer! Congratulations to the top two teams who really put on a great show and demonstrated amazing teamwork and sportsmanship! Thank you to our two coaches, Ms. Rahman and Ms. Howard, and to the staff and parent support crew who served as refs, timekeepers, scorekeepers and videographers.

What does it look like when learning goes beyond the classroom—and into the heart of a community?

At Amana Academy, our 8th graders are answering that question through their year-long learning expedition, titled "Be the Change." This culminating project challenges students to move from understanding issues to taking meaningful action.

Each year, our 8th grade students partner with The Mad Housers to design and build a small shelter for an unhoused resident in Atlanta. From planning and construction to final deployment in a local encampment, students engage in work that is as real as it is impactful—connecting their learning to issues of housing insecurity, systems of inequity, and human dignity.

This year, we are also proud to have team members from Honda join us for both the build and deployment. Their collaboration alongside our students made the experience even more powerful, modeling what it looks like when community and industry come together for a shared purpose.

This is what deeper learning can look like:
✔️ Authentic, hands-on work
✔️ Meaningful community partnerships
✔️ Students empowered to create real change

Our students don't just study problems—they became part of the solution.

Good morning, Amana crew! We're celebrating school safety this week - check out what we're highlighting each day! Help us keep our campus safe by talking with your students about what they learned each day, and by practicing safe driving in the parking lot during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

Over the course of the week, students and families will engage in:

Monday – Carpool Safety: Kicking off the week by celebrating safe carpool procedures that keep our students and families protected!

Tuesday – Health & Hygiene: During lunch, an informative presentation with our District Cluster Nurse and Clinician, Ms. Shamsi, on staying healthy and practicing good hygiene.

Wednesday – Touch-a-Truck Experience: Get up close with fire trucks, police vehicles, and other first responder equipment! The fun starts at 3:40 PM in the parking lot—don’t miss it!

Thursday – Building a Positive Community: During lunch, students will enjoy a presentation on anti-bullying, kindness, and respectful behavior—helping everyone contribute to a welcoming school environment.

Friday – School Safety: During Community Circles, Officer Tim will share important safety tips to keep students informed and prepared.

Science Akadémeia at the Amana Academy Changemaker Faire!
This weekend we had a wonderful time participating in the Amana Academy Charter Schools Changemaker Faire, where creativity, innovation, and curiosity came together in an inspiring way. It was exciting to see so many young minds exploring science, engineering, robotics, and hands-on discovery.
Our team enjoyed connecting with families, sharing what makes Science Akadémeia – The Atlanta Preschool of Science unique, and inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers. Events like this remind us how powerful early exposure to STEM learning can be.
Thank you to Amana Academy Charter Schools for hosting such a fantastic community event, and to all the families who stopped by our table to learn more about our programs, summer camps, and Georgia Pre-K. It was truly a pleasure meeting you!
The future is built by curious minds—and we love being part of that journey.
