TRAFFIC ADVISORY — UPDATE 1:30PM

The gas line on Main Street near Academy Street has been safely sealed, and all roadways in the area have reopened. Traffic is flowing freely again.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during the past few hours while emergency personnel and utility crews worked to safely resolve the situation.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY — GAS LINE STRIKE 10:00AM

A contractor has struck a gas line on Main Street near Academy Street in Alpharetta. Alpharetta Police and Fire units are on scene and redirecting traffic away from the area.

Current traffic closures:
Highway 9 at Mayfield: Southbound traffic is being stopped.
Highway 9 at Academy Street: Northbound traffic is being stopped.

The local gas company has been notified and is en route. We have been advised it may take approximately one hour for utility crews to arrive and assess the situation.

Please avoid the area for the next hour or until further notice. Allow emergency responders and utility crews the space they need to safely address the incident.

We appreciate your patience and will provide an update as more information becomes available.

This week Chief Denkinger took the opportunity to recognize the a few members of the fire department who recently reached milestone anniversaries of their service to the City of Alpharetta, and everyone who lives, works and plays in the city. With school starting up again soon, that means we'll start seeing school busses back on the roads more. After a long summer break we know some folks may forget what to do when those big yellow busses are stopped and their red lights are flashing, so we wanted to share some information from our friends at the Alpharetta Police Department on what to do. It helps you avoid a ticket, and most importantly it helps keep our kids safe.

Drive safe Alpharetta, so we can all get to where we're going.

This week the 7 recruits of Recruit Class 26-04 began their journey to becoming Alpharetta firefighters. They will go through months of rigorous physical and educational training as they learn to be both a firefighter and an advanced emt. We’re confident that they’re up for the challenge.

We love teaming up with the City of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks, Cultural Services to add a little extra summer fun for the kids in our awesome summer camps.

A huge shoutout to the Alpharetta Fire Department for stopping by summer camp and bringing the fun today! 🚒🔥

Thanks for bringing the fun, sharing what you do, and making camp even more awesome. Our campers had a great time and we appreciate all you do for our community!

This past Monday we were thrilled to officially kick off the renovation project for fire station 81.

This project is dedicated to enhancing firefighter health, safety, and overall quality of life while on shift.

A big thank you to our cityofalpharetta City Council for their unwavering support and commitment to investing in our stations and the well-being of those who serve our city every day, and to Ajax Building Company and the jerichodesigngroup. We look forward to this upgrade.
