SRSU Noyce Scholarship Program The Robert Noyce Scholarship Program serves preservice STEM teachers attending Sul Ross State University.

We include qualified students from all branches of SRSU including Uvalde, Eagle Pass, and Del Rio, to apply for our program's scholarship.

🌟 Noyce Scholar Alumni Spotlight: Ashley Santos 🌟

We are incredibly proud of former SRSU Noyce Scholar Ashley Santos, who was honored today by Eagle Pass ISD as a 2025–2026 STAAR Teacher! Ashley received this recognition for her superior performance, outstanding dedication, and distinguished service to education after helping her students achieve a STAAR passing rate of more than 90%. Her success reflects the knowledge, commitment, perseverance and heart she brings to her classroom at Eagle Pass High School.

🌟 Noyce Mentor Spotlight: Dr. Michelle Rinehart 🌟

The Sul Ross State University Noyce Scholars Program is proud to highlight one of our outstanding mentors, Dr. Michelle Rinehart, Superintendent of Alpine Independent School District. Dr. Rinehart is passionate about fostering excellence, belonging, and joy for Alpine ISD’s 850 students and 170 employees. She is deeply committed to the district’s mission of providing children with meaningful learning experiences that prepare them to become responsible, productive, and successful citizens in an ever-changing world. A STEM educator and accomplished leader, Dr. Rinehart earned her Doctor of Education Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University. She also holds bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics and in physics and mathematics teaching from Queen’s University. Dr. Rinehart has called West Texas home for the past 19 years. She lives in Alpine with her husband and their two children, who attend Alpine Middle School.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Rinehart’s commitment to mentoring the next generation of STEM educators. Her experience as a mathematics and physics educator, combined with her leadership and dedication to West Texas schools, makes her an invaluable mentor to our Noyce Scholars. Thank you, Dr. Rinehart, for investing in our future teachers and strengthening STEM education across our region!

We are excited to celebrate one of our Noyce Biology Scholars, Jose Gloria, Biology major, as he begins his student teaching journey at Del Rio Middle School! This semester marks an exciting step toward becoming a STEM educator and making a difference in the lives of students. We are proud to support our Noyce Scholars as they take their knowledge, passion, and experiences into classrooms across our region. 🌟 Noyce Alumni Spotlight! 🌟

We love seeing our Sul Ross State Noyce alumni making a difference in classrooms and communities across rural Texas! Today, we’re celebrating Melody Martinez, a former Noyce Scholar and Sul Ross State University mathematics graduate who is now teaching at Lipan ISD. Here is a recent quote from Ms. Martinez.

“I’m Melody Martinez and am starting my teaching and coaching journey at Lipan High School. I have the honor of teaching Pre Calculus, Algebra 2 and Dual Credit mathematics. I am also coaching volleyball, basketball and track. I am super excited to start my career in a small town with a great community. Everybody has been so welcoming and helpful for my 1st year of teaching and coaching. I can’t wait to see the growth of my students as the year continues!
