Please share with your neighbors and the Alpine Community Network. Alpine Fire Protection District is taking a position moving our community forward to match the risks and hazards that exist within the community. Alpine is one of the most at risk communities in the state. This notice is to give homeowners an opportunity to work towards compliance NOW. Beginning in 2026 if a homeowner request a burn permit, sells a property in Alpine proper, builds or remodels, complaint based, the property is subject to compliance with Zone 0 requirements. Alpine Fire is here to help on how to be compliant. We understand this may seem shocking. Understand all buildings are at risk and the community has significant threats. We all must do our part to create Defensible Space around buildings. This new Zone reduces direct flame impingement against the structure. Reduces potential for structure to ignite. Increases our FIREWISE resiliency and helps neighbors and neighborhoods be FIRE SAFE!!! Should you have ANY questions on Zone 0 contact Alpine Fire Protection District. Free chipping and Home Ignition Zone inspections are available

UPDATE!!!
Question was asked on where the "Risks" Map came from. Insurance companies use "Risks" maps to calculate your rates. They can use a map like this one which comes from https://wildfirerisk.org/explore/overview/06/06073/0600001192/ or FEMA maps - https://hazards.fema.gov/nri/map. These are NOT "Hazard" maps issued by Cal Fire Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps. A Home Ignition Zone assessment will assist the homeowner to determine your vulnerability against wildfire for "Risks" & "Hazards". A report is generated to help identify how to mitigate and lower both categories respectively. Any questions please come to the fire station, call our office, request an inspection. Education and Engineering a successful defensible space plan may be the difference on structure survivability and YOUR LIFE!

Thanks to a generous grant from the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation, the Alpine Fire District has received new, state-of-the-art fire shelters! These shelters are a game changer, offering critical protection against the extreme heat and conditions of wildfires. With fire seasons becoming more unpredictable, especially in our rugged terrain, these updated shelters are not just equipment – they're a lifeline for our brave firefighters. This investment is all about ensuring their safety and giving them the best tools to continue protecting our community and environment. A huge thank you to the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation for supporting our firefighters and their mission to keep us safe!
