Sometimes replacing the HVAC system isn't enough.

This home in Poway had a 20+ year-old HVAC system that was ready for replacement, and not just because of its age.

For the last 20 years, the system was never getting enough airflow, which led to multiple misdiagnosed repairs and extra headaches.

Our project manager, Kevin, discovered that the return air openings were too small for a 4-ton system, which can make an HVAC system work harder, run less efficiently, and struggle to keep the home comfortable.

Instead of just swapping in new equipment and leaving the same problem behind, we redesigned the setup. We relocated the indoor unit to the attic, added a much larger return, upgraded the ductwork, and installed a new high-efficiency 4-ton heat pump system designed for better airflow and quieter, more efficient operation.

Refrigerant leaks aren’t always easy to find, especially in tight spaces like this.

Our HVAC tech is using electronic leak detector to pinpoint a refrigerant leak on a wall-mounted air handler for a mini split system.

Check out this recent heat pump installation in North County San Diego our team completed.

This one was a little different than a normal install. The home had an addition built onto it, and at some point a new roof was built over the old sloped tile roof. Our team had to figure out a way to get the new heat pump installed level and secure in the space between the two roofs.

We ended up building a custom platform over the original roof so the equipment had a solid, level place to sit, complete with a little bench for any HVAC technicians that work on this unit in the future.

From there, we installed the new York heat pump system, ran the ductwork and drains, then added a new thermostat to finish everything off.

Definitely not your everyday install, but a good example of how every house can come with its own challenges.
