Join us tomorrow, June 10 from 6:00-8:00pm on the second floor of the Bryan Wildenthal Memorial Library in Alpine for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Archives of the Big Bend. This shindig, hosted & sponsored by Historic Alpine, will recognize the archivists, donors, volunteers, scholars, and community members who have contributed to the Archives over the past fifty years, as well as the vital role the Archives continues to play in education, research, historic preservation, and civic life throughout the Big Bend.

The Archives of the Big Bend has the honor of grand marshalling this year's 4th of July parade in Alpine. The parade begins at 10:00am on Saturday from Kokernot Park and ends at the courthouse where we'll have a time capsule activity station and other activities available throughout the afternoon. Come make history with us!

Wondering about the parade route for Alpine on 4th of July! We’ve got you covered!

Floats should enter Fighting Buck Ave. between the high school and Kokernot Field from E. Hendryx Ave. from 8:00-8:30 am. Pull in and get in line or alongside each other. The parade lineup will begin at the intersection of Fight Buck and E. Fort Davis Ave. The parade will turn south on 5th Street off of Fort Davis Ave.

To help us (and Wacky, our awesome parade leader), once you’ve arrived with your float please send someone ahead to the intersection of Ft. Davis Ave. and Fighting Buck Ave. to check in and get your float number. This will be the parade order and helps the judges. 😊

Fighting Buck Ave. will be closed just passed Marfa Ave. If you need to drop off people, kiddos and bikes at the pool (the kids bike decorating area is at the pool next to the playground) it will be best to come up Fighting Buck from Brown St. and return back toward Brown St. There will be no parking and parade set up on both Fort Davis Ave. and Marfa Ave.

We’re excited for this route, now in its second year. We hope these details are helpful.
