Huge congrats to Officer Rocco Merlo on 20 years of dedicated service to the Alsip community! 👏🚔

From Patrol to Crime Prevention to Investigations and back, Officer Merlo protected and served the community bringing smiles and public safety through Officer Friendly programs in local schools and more.

He helped bring programs like Cop on the Rooftop, National Night Out, the Torch Run, Crime Free Housing and more to life in our community — and in 2016 PLOWS Council on Aging honored him with an award for his work with our elderly Alsipians.

Thank you for your decades of service, Officer Merlo - Wishing you all the best in retirement! 🎉

Join us in giving a big shout-out to Janet McCarthy for her generous donation, which made it possible for us to fully outfit our first drone with the equipment needed for deployment.

This technology helps us serve and protect you by boosting our ability to respond to calls for service, assisting during critical incidents, and improving situational awareness.

On May 7, 2026, Janet was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her generosity and continued support of the Alsip Police Department and our community.
