Tragically, more beautiful mature trees, many oaks and other protected trees, are at risk of being destroyed for the 2 weeks worth of events at Santa Anita Park during the Olympics. Once gone, they can never be replaced. This cannot be allowed. They are too important to the health and well-being of the community -- 2-legged, 4-legged, 6-legged and winged. Please speak up to protest this disgraceful decision before it is too late to save the trees. You can make a difference. Please share widely.

As California debates Zone Zero, researchers want to know.

For more than a year, a group of researchers has collected data on more than 2,000 trees — about 600 in the Palisades and 1,500 in Altadena — to analyze how they may recover after the fires and their role in the fires’ spread.
