Large scale water supply drill 6/27/26. Altamont Fire Department along with 15 plus other fire departments drilled on a gorgeous morning in New Salem. Slingerlands 31-21 supplied Guilderland Center Ladder-49 utilizing three 3000gal portable ponds and eight tankers. A second operation with 3 more portable ponds and 7 tankers had New Salem engines supplying Delmar Ladder 9-70. Two fill sites were set up, one at Tygert Rd and the other at Pine St. in Voorheesville. Real life situations occurred during the training including loss of a fill site and tanker route being blocked by a sitting train. Both issues were quickly resolved and never stopped the operation. In total during a 2 hour run period just over 200,000gals was flowed from both dump sites. Excellent training for all involved. Thank you to the New Salem Fire Department for setting this yearly drill up.

Today some of our men and women of the Altamont Fire Department completed a HUGE training experience……What an amazing day of rescue technical rope training at Tawasentha park! After three weeks of training, we finally put what we learned together and practice our skills. It was an incredible experience working alongside so may dedicated firefighters while sharping it our resuce techniques and learning from on another. Truly an honor to train beside my brother and sister firefighters. Only one more class to go! Congrats Teresa Freeman, William Cleveland (Will), and Samatha Cleveland

We at The Altamont Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who stopped by the firehouse during the Altamont PTA Village Wide Garage Sale on Saturday.

As many of you knew in advance, we had stated “ALL” proceeds from our participation was being donated to the Devenpeck family to assist Mark following the devastating loss of his home and his beloved cat Cow.

We also had a boot to collect monetary donations for Mark as well.

We are very pleased to say, with the outstanding support from our community, that the fire department was able to write a check to the Devenpeck family for over $3,500.

This would not have been possible without the continuing support from our Altamont community and beyond.

Help support your local fire department and a neighbor in need.

The Altamont Fire Department will be cooking breakfast and lunch this Saturday May 2nd at the station from 8 am till 2 pm during the Altamont PTA Village Wide Garage Sale. Profits this year will be donated to Mark Devenpeck. The gentleman who lost everything to a House Fire a couple of weeks ago. We will also be collecting monetary donations to assist Mark as well. Please stop by, grab some breakfast, lunch or both and help us give back to the Devenpeck family. Thank you for the continued support.

At approx.3:45 this morning we were dispatched to a confirmed working structure fire with possible entrapment. on Sererson Ave in the Village. First Chief by passing the scene to get apparatus call having heavy smoke and fire in the area, with the next chief arriving seconds later calling working fire extending to the house calling for Mutual Aid.
Initial dispatch got Altamont Fire, Knox Fire for a tanker, Guilderland Center, and Westmere for the Fast…. After Chiefs arrival called in Fort Hunter and Guilderland for Engines and Manpower, also calling Berne, East Berne, New Salem Fire Departments for their tankers. North Bethlehem Fire for the Rehab, and Voorheesville Fire, McKownville for coverage in the Town……. We want to THANK everyone for their help and understanding with road closures in the area…. For what we could figure we flowed approx. 30,000 gallons of water getting this Fire under control.
We would like to also Thank Village Pizza for Lunch and continued support…

Sorry to be updating this post we at The Fire Department dropped the ball and forgot a  crucial point of setting up one of these fund raising events, we failed to get the approval of the Village Board and Mayor to do this Fund Raising Event….. So with that being said We the Altamont Fire Department will NOT be able to sell food, drinks, and merchandise at this weekends Craft Fair….. With that being said please come out and support all of the other venders there..

THE CRAFT FAIR IS STILL GOING ON AT FIRE HOUSE/VILLAGE HALL…….
