Our Public Services Department is conducting scheduled water tank maintenance. During this time, two of our water hydrants will be releasing water - one at English Park and one on Main Street in front of Abbott Labs. Please be cautious in these areas. Thank You.

UPDATE:
The splash pad at English Park is back open.
Thank you to our Public Works department that worked non-stop to make this happen.
Please make sure that your children are not taking food or toys onto the splash pad, as this may cause clogged components and damage the infrastructure of the facility. THANK YOU.

PUBLIC NOTICE:
The English Park Splash Pad is temorarily closed for mechanical repairs. Our Public Works Department is working deligently to restore use. The Town will post updates when the issue has been resolved. Thank you for your patience.

PUBLIC NOTICE:

Please be advised that our Public Works (Utilities Department) is currently working to repair a water main break located on River Oaks Drive.

Residents in the affected area may experience little to no water pressure while repairs are made.

Staff will notify the affected residents.

PUBLIC NOTICE:

During this period of voluntary efforts for water conservation, the English Park Splash Pad's operating hours will be 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., beginning Monday, July 27th.

We know the splash pad is a favorite activity for many families, and this is a small adjustment that can make a difference as we do our part in water conservation.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. The Town will provide updates accourdingly, as conditions change.

Water Conservation Notice – Town of Altavista

The Town of Altavista is asking residents to voluntarily reduce water usage for now. There are no mandatory restrictions in place, but we're keeping an eye on conditions — more advisories could follow if things get more severe.

A few easy ways to help:
💦 Water lawns early morning or evening only
🚿 Take shorter showers
🧺 Run full loads in the washer & dishwasher
🚗 Wash cars with a bucket instead of a hose
🌱 Skip filling pools/hot tubs for now
🧹 Sweep driveways instead of hosing them off

The boil water advisory previously issued for water users near Main Street and Amherst Avenue has been rescinded. Residents in this area no longer need to boil water before use

UPDATE:
The water line repair near Amherst Avenue and Main Street is now complete. As a precaution, a boil water advisory has been issued for all affected locations. A rescind notice will be issued once the boil water advisory is lifted.

If you believe your address may be affected by this water line repair but did not receive a direct notification, please contact Public Works at (434) 369-6045 to confirm whether a boil water advisory applies to your location.
