Company 10 and Campbell County Department of Public Safety responded to Main St and Lynch Mill Rd. for an iPhone crash notification.

Altavista Police Department arrived on scene first and found one vehicle that drove through a guardrail and down an embankment. Rescue 10 assisted Dannys Towing with the recovery. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

We at AFC extend our condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Firefighter Josh Jennings and the Evington Volunteer Fire Department during their time of grief and loss!

It is with a heavy heart that we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Josh Jennings.

Josh was a young, dedicated servant who was always willing to give his time and help others. He was also a valued member of the Evington Volunteer Fire Department, where he selflessly served his community and made a difference in the lives of others.

We are grateful for Josh’s dedication, his willingness to serve, and the time he gave to protect and help his neighbors. His commitment to the Evington community and the fire department will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jennings family, his friends, fellow firefighters, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing Josh. May God provide comfort and strength during this difficult time.

Thank you, Josh, for your service, your dedication, and your willingness to serve others. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten. 🙏🚒

It means that the calls, emails, meetings, and work day blues are almost over for the week. It also means that Nothing Bundt Cakes will be returning to Altavista. We don’t make the rules, but rumor has it tomorrow’s calories don’t count. So come treat yourself to your favorite bundt cake(s) starting at 9am while supplies last, located within the parking lot of the fire station and kick off the weekend the delicious way!

MVA on 29 North | 8/12/26 | 12:09PM

Rescue 10, Ladder 10, and CCPS were dispatched to 29 N. in the area of Altavista Memorial Park for a motor vehicle accident.

Units arrived to find a two vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer and a 4 door sedan. The sedan was overturned on its roof. The driver of the sedan self extricated prior to our arrival and was evaluated by EMS but refused transport. The driver of the tractor-trailer denied any injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.

In the Fridays to come for the foreseeable future, Nothing Bundt Cakes will be located in the parking lot of the fire station selling mini bundlets from 9am - 2pm while supplies last. 10% of all proceeds from your purchases will be donated to the Altavista Fire Company! From every member here at Altavista Fire Company, we thank them and their management in advance for their consideration on any and all future donations to help us fund our equipment, gear, and organization to better serve our community!

RV Fire Closes 900 Block of Lynch Mill Rd
[Dispatch: 5/31/25 – 6:15 PM]

Company 10 and mutual aid crews are currently on scene of an RV fire. It was fully involved on arrival. The fire has damaged nearby power lines. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while emergency personnel and utility crews work on scene.
