Today, the Alton Fire Department joined forces with the senior class at Mission Collegiate High School for the Shattered Dreams program. With Spring Break just around the corner, this wasn't just an exercise, it was a sobering look at the reality of impaired driving.
Students watched as a simulated crash site unfolded, witnessing the raw, response of our local first responders. From EMS treating the "injured" to the arrival of Judge J.J. Peña and Ric Brown Family Funeral Service, the scenario stripped away the "it won't happen to me" mindset.
This event was made possible through a vital partnership with:
• Doctors Hospital at Renaissance & Driscoll Injury Prevention
• South Texas Health System
• Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office & Pct. 3 Constable’s Office
• The City of Alton Fire and Police Departments
•Med-Care EMS
•956 Towing
A special thank you to the Mission CISD staff and students. Your role-playing and dedication brought this simulation to life, ensuring your peers felt the weight of every decision.
Today was a rehearsal. In the real world, there are no "retakes." As you head into Spring Break, remember: One choice can change, or end, a life forever. Don’t drive impaired.
