The Alton FCCLA attended the 2024 Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Fall Leadership Conference, October 13-14, 2024. More than 820 delegates from across the state joined the state association to kick off the 2024-2025 school year at the conference.
The conference centered on the student-developed theme “A Million Dreams” representing the broader theme of the school year – “The Leadership Spectacular”. The theme reflects the plethora of opportunities members of FCCLA have that encourage personal and professional development.

Also on Sunday afternoon, more than 100 students participated in the first-ever Show-Me Skills competition. Show-Me Skills are designed to showcase the talents and skills of our members in a variety of areas.

We are so excited to say we had many student received awards for their Show-Me Skills projects-

🏆Macie Anderson placed 1st in the level 2 Culinary Knife skills

🏆Alyssa Chronister placed top 5 in level 2 Fashion sketch

🏆Lilly Smith placed 1st in Level 1 FCCLA Creed speaking and interpretation

🏆Miley Holesapple placed 2nd in Level 1 FCCLA Creed speaking and interpretation

🏆Wyatt Williams placed 3rd in Level 2 FCCLA Creed speaking and interpretation

🏆Grant Cauthen placed top 5 in Level 2 FCCLA Creed speaking and interpretation

🏆Anna Roberts placed 1st in Member Recruitment Challenge

Students also were able to attend workshops on leadership development, community service, career preparation, and healthy living. Exhibits from Missouri colleges, universities, and vendors were also present at the conference.
FCCLA is unique among student organizations because projects and events--such as the State Leadership Conference--are planned and run by its student members. This prime focus of Missouri FCCLA, youth-centered leadership, helps members develop those "skills for life"—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the workplace and in the home.
