Ground has officially been broken!

Today, the Alton EDC was proud to join community leaders, developers, business partners, and more for the Garden Villas Groundbreaking Ceremony at Mayberry Road and Mile 5.

The event featured remarks from Mayor Salvador Vela, Chamber President Felipe Gomez, Commissioner Everardo “Ever” Villarreal, and community stakeholders who shared their vision for the future of housing and growth in our city. The ceremonial hard hat presentation and shovel ceremony marked the official start of what is going to be a beautiful new residential development in Alton.

Garden Villas represents more than new homes. It reflects continued investment in our community, growing opportunities for families, supporting growth in our economy, and helping shape the future of our city.

Congratulations to AVIG Development, Aleph Properties, Big Realty, and all project partners on this exciting milestone. We look forward to watching Garden Villas take shape and welcoming new residents to call Alton home.

Last week, we attended the 2026 Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) Annual Conference in Austin, where communications professionals from across Texas gathered to share best practices, emerging trends, and innovative strategies for engaging residents and businesses.

As Alton continues to grow, it is more important than ever that we communicate effectively, tell our community's story, and connect residents, visitors, entrepreneurs, and investors with the resources they need. The knowledge and ideas gained from TAMIO will help us strengthen our marketing efforts, improve public outreach, enhance community engagement, and continue promoting Alton as a thriving place to live, work, and do business.
