Adaly Tellez 09/03/87-10/01/17

“I thought grief was just one time thing but after suffering the loss of my sister due to domestic violence I learned that it was something that we had to cope with every day. Adalys’ death also took our desire to live. Our family is apart and our nephews can’t see their brothers and sisters. This has all left us very broken, it’s still unbelievable. We miss her so much its unexplainable, it’s something that I cannot express. I don’t even know how to express the feeling, its many feelings mix together that no one will ever understand.”-Tellez family

“I want to bring awareness about family domestic violence because that’s how I lost my precious daughter, a devout Christian, exceptional human being, that would help anyone in need. A senseless murder, from the man that promised to care for her. The one who she waited on hand and foot for 20 years, yet betrays her when he was caught. Takes her life by a single bullet while she ran for her life. Now my life is shattered with immense pain. My other 2 daughters and son whom were very close to each other their lives are changed forever. My story of heartbreak is too long to explain, so my message is seek help if you are in such situation. Support Groups are available like the Rio Grande Valley Empowerment Zone thanks for listening.: - Daisy Ratliff & family

“I lost 2 love ones and my youngest daughter, Lydia Garcia, received 8 bullets holes in her tiny little body due to the Domestic Violence.
On Friday, January 27 2017, Ashley Garcia came come at 10 pm from her boyfriend’s house. At the same time, Lydise Garcia came from her friend house across the street. “Cruz Pinon”, the assassin, was with Verenise watching TV with Lydia and the twins, “Verenise and Cruz son and daughter.” When Ashley walk in the door, Cruz asked Ashley for her phone, which she refuse. At the same time, Lydise came and Cruz asked her for her phone too. Both of them said that the only one that can check her phones were my Dad and Mom. She got extremely upset and started fighting with both of the girls. Ashley was very tired of the everyday confrontation, so she dial 911. After a few arguments and verbal violence, the police showed up.
When the police showed up, they started talking with Ashley and Verenise outside. Ashley was in the porch and Verenise was outside in the front yard. Lydise was in the driveway with 2 more police officers. The twins and Lydia stayed inside watching TV. About 30 min after the police was in the property, Lydise told the officers that Cruz was not supposed to be home. He was arrested before with child pornography and it was not allowed near any underage. Since Cruz knew what was going too happened. He got his gun and shot Ashley and Verenise multiple times. “As of right now, I don’t have the facts about how many and who shot who.” The police started shooting back and Lydia got outside to defend her mom and her sister. That is where she received 8 bullet hole in her body. I was about 1 min away. I was with the phone conversation with Lydia. I heard 3 shoots and the phone got disconnected. I drove as fast as I could, and the police were behind the police cars. At that time I didn’t knew what was going on. The only think I knew was I just want to see my girls. I just saw Verenise on the front yard. I could not see Ashley was in the porch. After 30 min waiting impatiently outside. I saw Lydia. They took her to the Hospital where they send her immediately to San Antonio Hospital via Helicopter. She was in a critical conditions. After I arrived in San Antonio, I signed permission to do the surgery. The surgery was very successful and she was in a recuperation area.
Domestic Violence is not acceptable in any consequences. Man or Woman, it has to stop. I disagree 100 % with Domestic Violence. There are many action everyone can take, before it is too late. Someone can get hurt or even died. Just what happen to my daughter and her mom and Lydia that received multiple wound. Those scar will never go away, body scar and her brain. Everyone misses Ashley and Verenise. There is not a day go by that I think about Ashley and Verenise and say Thanks to God to be here taking care of my 2 daughters and now Ashley and Verenise are very good in heaven. Soon I will have a chance to see them again.” –Garcia family

"Mayito was a healthy child full of big dreams. He wanted to be a cardiologist to help save people. Sylvester was very active and talented. He loved playing with electronics and learning how things worked. Osiel was meeting all his milestones and was a very happy little boy. He enjoyed playing with cars and knew all the secrets of the universe. Amelia lived for her grandchildren and family. Her biggest satisfaction was feeding people. She is remembered for her cooking and flour tortillas made from scratch. She was a gentle soul that gave love to all. Their life was cut short as they were victims of domestic violence. They were innocent. Perpetrators usually lose control and want to make their victim suffer. They will attack not just the victim, but the people their victim loves the most to make her suffer. His main victim survived the attack, but his actions left a void and devastation in a lot of people’s hearts.
Reporting domestic violence is everyone’s responsibility. Silence hides violence. If you remain silent, you are a contributor to the suffering of the victim. Be the victim’s voice or help them find their own."

Yolanda De Anda May 17th, 1966-April 4th, 2016

“A small story about our feelings right now 4 years have passed and I hate holidays every holiday that comes I hate them, why? Because my sister was the one down here in The Valley and close and attach to us now that I don’t have her it makes me feel empty, sad, and lonely because I don’t have no one that I can talk to and I’m pretty sure my mom feels worse; she feels lonely, sad, and depressed. My sister would live with my mom at one point when she started to have problems with him so she would sleep with my mom and they would have breakfast together and dinner had those long conversations and know my mom spends time alone watching television and watching YouTube it’s hard for me to be with my family and to be with my mom at the same time I can’t .”-Francis and De Anda Family

Our prayers for Houston Police Department and the surviving family of Sergeant Harold Lloyd Preston. Our most sincere condolences 🙏.

Thank you for your 41 years of service and your leadership, Sergeant Preston. Rest in peace, sir.

#HonorIntegrityRespect

Sergeant Harold Lloyd Preston is a 41 year veteran of the Houston Police Department. He graduated from HPD Academy Class #86 in 1979.

It is with great sadness that we share - our brother Sergeant Preston was shot and killed in the line of duty this morning, while responding to a domestic violence call. Another HPD officer was shot multiple times, but will survive his injuries.

Please pray for the family and friends of Sergeant Harold Preston. Please pray for our department and our city. We are in mourning for our fallen brother.

Thank you for your 41 years of service and your leadership, Sergeant Preston. You will always be remembered and we will never forget your sacrifice, in service to others. Rest in peace, sir.

Hola !

We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Mr. Jose Angel Jimenez and a happy Valentines Day as well to him and his family!
This is something I have never done before, however I felt it couldn't be left unsaid...... I recently applied for a position at RGV Empowerment Zone Corp. and received a letter from ya'll today. Unfortunately I was turned down for the position as it was given to a better fitting applicant. I would like to let you know that I greatly appreciate you taking the time to write & send these letters out. Too many times we are left in the dark with the waiting & guessing game of knowing if the position has been filled. Very professional. Nothing but well wishes for continued success of your organization, it's employees & recipients of your work. Once again.... Thank you.
