We are proud to recognize Captain Pat O’Brien and Firefighter Trevor Smith on the successful completion of their Paramedic education through the New England EMS Institute (NEEMSI).

Achieving the Paramedic level represents a significant commitment to the fire and EMS profession. Both members dedicated countless hours to advanced classroom education, clinical training, field experience, and practical skills development while continuing to serve our community.

Congratulations to Captain O’Brien for achieving the Clinical Excellence award, and Trevor for achieving Academic and Leadership awards. Well deserved for both students!

Their commitment to professional development strengthens the capabilities of Alton Fire-Rescue and enhances the level of emergency medical care we are able to provide to the citizens and visitors of Alton.

Congratulations to Captain Pat O’Brien and Firefighter Trevor Smith!

🔥 Welcome to Alton Fire & Rescue, Alex and Aidan! 🚒

Please join us in welcoming Alex and Aidan as our newest Student Interns with the Alton Fire Department!

Yesterday, they jumped right into training, working alongside our members on hose deployments, and acrophobia testing. They got a firsthand look at the teamwork, physical demands, technical skills, and confidence required to operate safely on the fireground.

Over the next two years, Alex and Aidan will begin the process of learning what it takes to become professional firefighters and EMS providers, while also attending college to pursue a degree in Fire Science. They’ll have the opportunity to train, learn from our members, experience emergency operations, and build the foundation for a career in the fire service.

We’re excited to have them on board and look forward to watching them learn, grow, and become part of the Alton Fire family.

Welcome, Alex and Aidan! We’re glad to have you with us! 👨‍🚒🚑🔥

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Police versus Fire softball game scheduled for Sunday is cancelled. The PD and FD may look to reschedule it later in the season. We are sorry for the inconvenience and as always, we are thankful for the community’s continued support. We look forward to seeing everyone at the parade on Saturday.

Sincerely, APD & AFD

Congratulations to Firefighter Cody Griffin!

Yesterday, Cody Griffin successfully completed his Engine 2 Pumper/Tanker Operator competency evaluation, demonstrating the knowledge, skill, and professionalism required to safely and effectively operate one of our department’s most versatile apparatus.

Engine 2 serves as our pumper/tanker, playing a critical role in providing a reliable water supply for fires in areas of Alton that do not have fire hydrants. The apparatus also responds on mutual aid assignments, supplying water and supporting neighboring communities when additional resources are needed.

Becoming an operator is a significant milestone that reflects countless hours of training, dedication, and commitment to serving our community. Successfully completing this evaluation ensures Cody is prepared to safely operate and deploy Engine 2 whenever our community—or our mutual aid partners—need it.

We look forward to seeing him continue to grow in his role and serve the citizens and visitors of Alton with pride.

🇺🇸 Pride in the station. Pride in our training. 💪🏼

This week, crews spent time keeping our firehouse clean and mission-ready before heading to Alton Bay for our weekly open-water swim. Whether it’s maintaining our equipment and station or sharpening our water rescue skills, we’re committed to being ready for whatever our community needs.

Every task matters. Every training counts.
