Are you Eligible for Direct from the State Tax Relief?

The State is accepting applications between May 1st and June 30th for direct relief from the State Education Property Tax.

This assistance is from the State of NH with no involvement from the Town. If you earn less than $37,000 (single), or $47,000 (married); own a homestead subject to the State Education Property Tax; and lived in the property on April 1st, you can apply for this relief.

Sample and absentee ballots for the June 6, 2026 Town of Alton Special Election are now available through the Town Clerk’s Office.

Absentee ballots are available upon receipt of a completed application for voters who qualify to vote absentee.

Please contact the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours with any election or absentee voting questions at (603) 875-2101.

The NH Old Graveyard Spring Meeting is May 9th, 2026 at the Deerfield Community Church. All are welcome to attend and Free to All. We meet at 9:30 for refreshments and informal chat. Business meeting and program starts at 10:00. The presenter will be Melissa Knibbs, Her interest are cemeteries and graveyards, appreciating the beauty of the stones, carvings and epitaphs. The Deerfield Garden Club will be hosting a plant sale at the Town Hall across the street that includes a coffee truck selling snacks.
After a lunch break they visit the Old Center Cemetery on Meetinghouse Road, one of Deerfield's most storied burial grounds.
This should be a very interesting day for all, young and older.
