At our March meeting we celebrated some large milestones. Dennis Schmidt has served on our department for 33 years! Dennis was both an EMT and firefighter. You could also find him helping in other large capacities around the station.

Jay Lalk has served on the department for 13 years. Jay was mostly a firefighter, but we also relied on him as an ambulance driver. During the day, Jay was one of the first to respond, having the ambulance out and ready waiting for our EMT.

Gentlemen, we thank you for your combined service of 46 years and we will miss you on our department. Well wishes gentlemen!

On Monday, March 9 we had the privilege of recognizing our Fire Chief for his outstanding service to the Alton Community. (No he’s not retiring 😊) 35 years he has dedicated to the community. 10 of those years as Chief, another 15(ish) as Assistant Chief.

Thank you Chief Van Es for your time, dedication, leadership, friendship, and most of all, accepting the nomination as chief for another two years! 🚒

We also would like to show our appreciation and gratitude to his family. We know it’s not easy being the spouse, or children to someone who serves in this capacity. Thank you Van Es family!

Alton residents! Here is another great opportunity to show your support for one of our fellow community firefighters.  Alton Fire is grilling burgers and steak sandwiches from Babcock’s! You won’t want to miss the great food and fellowship.

Leave the cooking and cleanup to us tonight. Come out for pancakes and sausage. Tonight we are doing something a little different, by GIVING back to the community. All proceeds will go to the families of the Granville house fire.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with these families.
