Today, our cadets kicked off an exciting week of hands-on learning, leadership development, and career exploration in public safety. Under the leadership of Officer Barrientoz and Officer Ayala, cadets are being introduced to the many opportunities and responsibilities that come with serving their community.
Throughout the week, participants will have the opportunity to learn from professionals across multiple disciplines, gaining valuable insight into the many career paths available in public service.
This week’s activities include:
✅ Presentations from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)
✅ Learning from Emergency Dispatchers
✅ Hands-on Law Enforcement Techniques
✅ A Texas DPS Helicopter Demonstration
✅ CPR Certification Training
✅ A visit to SPI to meet U.S. Customs and Border Protection Marine Operations Personnel
The Public Safety Cadets Summer Academy, coordinated by Officer Barrientoz and Officer Ayala, is designed to provide a behind-the-scenes look at public safety careers while building leadership, teamwork, communication, and lifesaving skills.
