Check out our newest program at Ransom Memorial Public Library—1000 Books Before Kindergarten!
This program is available to all children from birth through Kindergarten. Build your child’s early literacy skills, create special memories, and cultivate a love of reading as you strive to read 1000 books with your child before they begin Kindergarten.
📖 Is it truly possible to read enough books to complete the challenge? - Absolutely! If you read just one book per night, you will have read 365 books in just the first year. At that pace, you can complete the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge in three years!
📖 How do I sign up? - Just stop by the library desk to sign up and pick up your first tracking sheet. There is no deadline for signing up. Once you are ready to go, all you have to do is cross off a spot on the tracking sheet for each book read. And don’t worry, you can count a book more than once! Repetition has been shown to be beneficial for learning, so if your child loves to hear the same stories on repeat, no worries. Each time you read the book will count toward your goal.
📖 Do I have to read specific books? - Nope, any book will do! Read what you and your child enjoy, no matter the length or topic.
📖 What else should I know before I begin? – While the ultimate goal is the learning, bonding, and love for books that comes from shared reading, your child will also have the opportunity to earn small rewards when they reach certain milestones on their journey toward 1000 books. See the library desk upon signup for details.
We hope you and your little ones will join us for an amazing reading adventure. Reach out or stop by the library with any questions or to sign up today!
