June is National PTSD Awareness Month. While most people associate PTSD with veterans, it can affect even our military who are current active duty – up to 20% of all servicemembers. Continuing to live and work after a traumatic event, sometimes PTSD goes unnoticed and untreated for long periods of time, causing nightmares, mood changes, and reactive personality changes. US Veteran Affairs has online screening for self or a close contact, and help can also be found by dialing 988 or texting 838255.
