I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial day weekend.

But while you are enjoying the traditional start of summer, please remember the true meaning of the holiday: Memorial Day honors the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. These courageous individuals have given everything they had to defend our freedoms and way of life. Memorial Day reminds us of the high price of freedom and the debt of gratitude we owe to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It is a day to reflect on their sacrifice and to honor their memory with gratitude.

As a veteran this is not a day that we expect thanks but a day for us to remember the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We know her as a symbol of strength, lifting us up during the darkest of moments. Though tattered, she tells us everything will be OK after a tornado rips through her town. We see her all over the place during Independence Day celebrations, taking on forms of banners, decals, and even jewelry. Her name is Old Glory, and you can be sure American Legion Auxiliary members will be displaying her on this Flag Day and every day with pride.

We would like to thank everyone that came out to support the American Legion Post 827 , VFW post 3 and the Catholic War Vets at the Memorial Day Parade. We are honored to remember all the men and women that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We must never forget them.
