The RK Agarwal MD & Family Teen Center & Shelter The Teen Center & Shelter provides short term shelter and addresses the immediate needs of runaway , homeless, and at risk youth and their family.

Teen Center Services Provided
Teen Issues Group: Any teen in the community is welcome to participate every night from 6-7 pm at the Teen Center at 1701 Sixth Avenue, Altoona. Drop-in Center: Not all youth are seeking shelter. At times young people may just be looking for someone to talk to or the opportunity to meet with other teens in a safe environment. We encourage youth to drop in any time. Te

en Hotline: Teens and family members are welcome to call. The hotline also accepts information on school violence and Threats. 1-800-227-TEEN (8336) or 1-814-941-0975 Emergency shelter is provided for both males and females, ages 12-17. The shelter is located at 1701 Sixth Avenue, Altoona and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Free shelter services are provided for up to 21 days.

Our RHY (Runaway & Homeless Youth) Shelter is currently seeking motivated, compassionate interns who want hands on experience working with young people in crisis.
✨ Intern responsibilities may include:
• Supporting daily shelter operations
• Engaging with youth in a safe, inclusive environment
• Assisting staff with programming and life skills activities
• Learning about trauma informed care and youth advocacy

Applications are now open for the Leadership Blair County Youth program through the Blair County Chamber of Commerce—an exciting opportunity for motivated high school students to grow, connect, and lead.

Leadership Blair County Youth emphasizes service and collaboration, encouraging students to work together on meaningful projects that strengthen their connection to the community. The program helps students discover their strengths, expand their networks, and better prepare for college, careers, and future leadership roles.

If you know a student who will be going into tenth grade and is curious, driven, and eager to make a difference, encourage them to apply. Applications for the 2026–2027 Leadership Blair County Youth class are available online and are due April 24. Help us inspire and develop the next generation of Blair County leaders!
