We are excited to share that two of Wisconsin's finest will be traveling to the STAR Program in Germany on May 2. Lt. Luis Lopes-Serrao of the Wausau Police Department and Officer Jeff Kirchman of the UW-Madison Police Department will spend the next two weeks learning from their German counterparts about community policing methods, patrol tactics, equipment standards, any many other topics. We wish you safe safe travels and a great time overseas!

We are excited to announce that Eau Claire Police Department Officer Lucas Tisol will embark on his journey tomorrow to the 2025 STAR IPE program around the city of Hannover in northern Germany. Here, he will gain a deep insight into the tactics, laws, and culture of our European counterparts with the Polizei.

Today was the bittersweet end of the 2023 Wisconsin chapter program. The time flew by, but wonderful memories were made and visitors turned into great new friends.

The foreign officers received farewill gifts from the Altoona Police Department as well as a certificate of commendation from State Senator Jesse James.

Thank you to our guests, our host families, and all other participants for another amazing exchange of knowledge, culture and humanity. Most importantly, 5 additional people on this planet have now enjoyed cheese curds!!

Thank you to Warden Buesgen, Captain Vait and all of the other dedicated staff of the Stanley Correctional Institution for the detailed and informative tour! SCI once again proved that it is a model institution for inmate education, reintegration and the reduction of recidivism.
