Meet our Volunteers!
Jody Wallace began volunteering at Fort Roberdeau around 1995. In the beginning, she found it difficult to volunteer because she still had three small children, but on occasion they would come with her and would help with her historical interpretation. In fact, her son, Connor, continues to help her with historical interpretation and was an intern and former staff member at Fort Roberdeau (see image). Jody worked with Peggy Goodman to develop programs, including "Flee to the Fort" and the W**d Warriors. The W**d Warrior program began with the planting of a single sugar maple tree, which has a time capsule buried beneath. Jody would later become a member of the Fort Roberdeau Association Board and served for at least 30 years.
Jody continues to volunteer at Fort Roberdeau. "I like volunteering at Fort Roberdeau. It gives me a sense of community and accomplishment. I am dedicated to the W**d Warrior program now, morphing into the 'Foragers Forest' project...At my age, it is becoming a physical challenge to keep up with managing a forest and fleeing to the Fort, but my hear is still in it!"
