🌳 East Polk Rotary is proud to have donated a tree in Bondurant Park as part of Rotary District 6000 Iowa District Governor Norlan Hinke’s initiative encouraging Rotary clubs to help improve our environment and invest in the future of our communities.

This tree represents more than just growth in our park — it symbolizes service, sustainability, and our commitment to making a positive impact for generations to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible including the City of Bondurant, Iowa Government and to Governor Norlan Hinke for inspiring clubs across Iowa to take action for our environment. 💙💛

Today, the East Polk Rotary Club pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we cherish every day.

We extend our deepest appreciation to all who have served and especially remember those who never made it home. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to others embody the very spirit of “Service Above Self.”

As we gather with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and honor the heroes who gave everything for our nation.

❤️🤍💙

👏 A huge THANK YOU to Brett Rickabaugh, Ryan Andersen and everyone who helped make the 38th Annual Iowa Industrial Tech Expo such a success!

Members of East Polk Rotary Club had the privilege of serving as judges and seeing firsthand the incredible talent, creativity, and hard work of the students who participated. The future is bright!

We want to send special kudos to the students, teachers, advisors, and staff at all of the schools for continuing to support and grow opportunities in industrial technology education. The innovation, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills on display were truly impressive.

A special thank you and congratulations also goes to Rotarian and Southeast Polk Community School District Superintendent Dr. Dirk Halupnik as he prepares for retirement. Dr. Halupnik has been a tremendous supporter of students, career and technical education, and community partnerships throughout his time with Southeast Polk. We appreciate his leadership and dedication to helping students succeed in college, careers, and civic life. Best wishes on your retirement, Dirk! 👏

It is especially meaningful that this event takes place during Rotary Youth Services Month in May — a time when Rotary celebrates the importance of empowering young people through education, leadership opportunities, mentorship, and service. Events like the Iowa Industrial Tech Expo highlight exactly why investing in youth matters and showcase the amazing potential of the next generation.

During the event, East Polk Rotary Club was also proud to award the $1,000 Michael Horton Memorial Scholarship along with two additional $500 scholarships to deserving students pursuing their futures in many avenues including industrial technology and skilled trades.

Congratulations to all of the participants for your dedication, innovation, and outstanding projects! 👏🔧⚙️

We missed getting pictures of all but thanks to Rotarians Tom Bylund, Curt Gause, Joe Flannery, Steve Mathers, Marie Stephenson Pipes and Evening Rotary Club of Ankeny PDG Steve Wieneke

🎶 A Harmonious Highlight from Earlier This Week! 🎶

A big thank you to Greg Long and the Harmony Delegation Chorus for a fantastic program earlier this week!

Greg shared the rich history of barbershop choruses, giving us a deeper appreciation for this unique and timeless style of music. We also enjoyed an outstanding quartet performance featuring our very own Mike W., Mike H., and Barron — and they were incredible! 👏

From learning about the roots of barbershop harmony to experiencing it live, it was a fun and memorable meeting that truly lifted the room.

Thank you again, Greg and the entire group, for sharing your time and talent with us! 🎤✨
