Students in 7th grade Social Studies participated in a "Back to School Traditions Around the World" scavenger hunt. They worked in groups to read clues and answer questions about different traditions around the world! 🌎

🌟 Meet the Newest Member of Our Team! 🌟

We're excited to introduce the amazing staff members joining the School District of Altoona this year! Today, we're thrilled to welcome Drew Carlson, who will be serving as a special education paraprofessional.

Take a moment to get to know Drew:

"Hi, my name is Drew Carlson, and I will be working as a special education paraprofessional at the elementary school. For the last 4.5 years, I have been working at a neighboring district's elementary school, providing educational assistance to each and every learner. I am super excited to be able to assist learners in the community where I live.

I have lived in Altoona with my wife and two kids since 2017. Along with our kids, we have two dogs, a cat, and a gecko. In our free time, we enjoy being outdoors, working on projects, and going on adventures, but we also enjoy finding time to relax and catch a good movie.

I chose Altoona as my next step because my kiddos have attended Altoona, and we have only found staff who want to provide what is best for them and all students. Plus, after 4.5 years, I finally got approval from the kiddos to work in the same building as them...lol. I look forward to providing support to each and every student, just as all the staff have provided support to my kiddos. I cannot wait to meet all the students and families!"
