A big thank you to Altoona City Councilman David Ellis!

Last night Mr Ellis gave us a pretty detailed explanation of their efforts to address the homeless situation in Altoona. We were very impressed by the county wide approach they formulated and how they have successfully coordinated with literally dozens of agencies across the county. Not only that but they have brought other players to the table such as law enforcement, district magistrates, school district officials, and even concerned citizens. They’ve approached the problem not from a punitive position but one of compassion and the attitude that the homeless should be treated with dignity.
Mr Ellis answered questions after his presentation and I must say the audience asked a lot of very good questions which he answered thoroughly and confidently. It was obvious he feels strongly about attacking this issue from every angle possible and that he is knowledgable about the problem and exactly what they are doing.

If you were unable to attend you missed a great meeting!

Also at the meeting Blair County Tea Party President Rhonda Holland expressed her regret that she needed to resign in order to help take care of family. She thanked everyone for the years of support and we are all so grateful for all of her hard work and her leadership! Please keep Rhonda and her family in your thoughts and prayers!
