Strong-to-severe thunderstorms along a cold front could bring scattered instances of damaging winds across much of central Pennsylvania.
Gusty non-thunderstorm winds are expected across much of central Pennsylvania with highest gusts early this afternoon across the Laurels.



Important Changes: Included today's wind gust forecast along with timing on both the severe thunderstorm threat and non-thunderstorm wind threat.

BLAIR PA ALERT: NWS Partners - Blair County and Surrounding Areas-Thursday, June 18, 2026




A strong cold front will bring chances for severe storms on Thursday.
An initial line of thunderstorms moving across the region Thursday morning may produce locally damaging wind gusts within the Marginal Risk (1/5).
Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds may develop Thursday afternoon and evening, primarily across far-southeastern Pennsylvania within the Slight Risk (2/5).



Important changes:


The risk for non-thunderstorm related gusty winds has increased with post frontal winds expected to gust between 30 to 40 mph.

Tonight was the beginning of week 3 for Class 007. The students learned about airway management, shock, and neurological emergencies. The teams also presented thier assigned respiratory emergencies and created study guides on the same.

Saturday the 13th of June was the first major lab day for Class 007. The students learned about CPR, BLS resuscitation, how to safely move patients as well as loading and unloading the stretcher in and out of a unit. It was a very busy but fun day for the class. All told, each student performed about 1000 compressions during this sess. On to week 3 and the first clinical shifts!

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 815 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Bald Eagle to Sinking Valley to Gallitzin to
Salix-Beauty Line Park, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Altoona, State College, Huntingdon, Hollidaysburg, Tyrone, Portage,
Park Forest Village, Boalsburg, Pleasant Gap, Roaring Spring,
Stormstown, and Lemont.

This includes Interstate 99 from mile markers 15 to 81.
Stay inside a well built structure and keep away from windows.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these severe
thunderstorms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's
leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for south central
and central Pennsylvania.

Dubois Route 255 and Mile Run exits, specifically from mile markers
108 to 193.

Very heavy rainfall is occurring with these severe thunderstorms, and
may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
