Last Saturday some members of the Logan Township Police Department participated in the 3rd Annual Strike Out the Stigma softball tournament. The tournament is aimed at first responders reducing the stigma around seeking help and asking peers for help. Thank you to the Blair Emergency Services Chaplain Platoon and everyone else who sponsored this year, making it possible. Big news!

We’ve received a grant from Norfolk Southern’s Safety First Grant Program! Logan Township Police Department is receiving $14,209.00 to purchase two drones and train operators!

This funding will help us assist Norfolk Southern and the rest of the community. The drones will be used to support derailments, trespassing, rail yard security, search and rescue, hazardous materials incidents, large public events, and incidents throughout our communities. The drones will improve situational awareness, response times, and responder safety.

We’re grateful to Norfolk Southern for recognizing our work and supporting communities like ours across the country.

The weekend has officially arrived, which means somewhere tonight someone is going to put on a backwards hat, hear one song from 2007 while drinking a Zima, and believe he’s 21 again. (We support you reliving your college years BTW)

Enjoy some drinks, tell the same story six times, let everyone know “THIS IS MY SONG” and enjoy your late-night Sheetz food run! Just make sure, if you plan to be intoxicated, plan a sober driver as well because nothing ruins a night faster than realizing red and blues in the rear view mirror of your 2002 Dodge Neon while on your way to Denny’s turning down the music so you can “see better”.

Call a friend, get an Uber, or call your parents. Because the only thing worse than a DUI is someone losing their life. Stay smart, stay alive.

Logan Township Police was established in April of 1966, consisting of one Chief and seven Patrolmen. Providing coverage to Logan Township, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day with 52 sq. miles of coverage area. Operations originally began with 2 patrol vehicles which have now grown to every officer having their own patrol vehicles.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table during National Night Out! It was a great evening that was spent meeting members of our community, answering questions, and making new friends!

We would also like to thank everyone who helped organize this event, as well as all the agencies, organizations, and volunteers who made it possible!

The Logan Township Police Department joined the red sand project this week. The project’s central action involves individuals pouring red sand into cracks in sidewalks. These cracks symbolize people who “fall through the cracks” of society, those who are vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. The bright red sand makes these overlooked spaces impossible to ignore, encouraging conversations about prevention, awareness, and support for vulnerable communities. We stand with the Red Sand Project!

This evening, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash at Greenwood Park, Logan Township. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and no one was injured.

Thank you to Greenwood Fire Department and AMED for their assistance in this matter. We appreciate the strong partnerships that help keep our community safe.

Whether you’re heading home from work, or the ballfield, take your time behind the wheel. A few extra seconds can make a difference.

Ted Talk Tuesday! It’s RAINING, and we at the Logan Township Police Department would like to remind you that headlights are required to be on while your wipers are in operation (Even if you haven’t replaced them since you bought the vehicle). And before the comments start with “Funny how you guys don’t stop people for no headlights in the rain…..” don’t worry, we saw your concern yesterday and would like to address the matter! We will happily walk up to your window in the rain and explain why driving 63 MPH through a downpour in your 2002 Dodge Neon while we’re blasting Rod Stewart’s cover “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” was a worse decision than hanging your high school graduation tassel on your rearview mirror in ’04. IYKYK.

See, the problem is not always the rain. The problem is people who think “I can still see” is the same thing as “I’m driving safely.” Make sure to turn on your lights, leave the vehicle in front of you space, and operate your motor vehicle safely.

Extra Credit: If you see standing water, please don’t attempt to maneuver your vehicle through it. We’ve seen several vehicles in the last few storms make unsafe decisions that led to costly and dangerous problems! We as well as your insurance company thank you!
