UPMA state convention time is here....if you have never been to one....try it, you might like it....a great opportunity to visit with fellow PM and Mgrs. plus state and national officers....and think it is tax deductible too......use to be.....

and national convention is in st louis....driving distance for many....so a great opportunity there.....try it, you might like it....

i think my laptop caught "covid" in ohio BUT it is out of the laptop hospital and we are back on line.....ours hugs and prayers to all affected by ida and her after effects...."been there and done that"....patience is so hard to find in those times.....many things are available BUT how are u to find out about them if you dont have power, phone, etc....i always said they should use planes to fly signs overhead....for folks desperate for ice, water, etc....glad to be back on line....

Do you know who is your Congressman or Congresswoman? If you don't, google, it.......It is more important than ever that we have close contact with them.....We COULD see various challenges to the many benefits that we have come to take for granted. Plus, we are in an age when many folks say/think things that aren't necessarily the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth...We need to be sure we stay aware of everything that might affect us, active or retired.......Go to their town hall meetings, set up an appointment to visit with them when they are home in the District, they don't bite........If you cant find your Rep., please let me know and I will help.....PLEASE, PLEASE commit to doing all you can to be on the "front line" with them.....

UPMA Retirees, if you are wintering in FL, come join us at our annual "steakout", Saturday, jan 14 at the community center in Eustis fl....601 Northshore Dr.....lunch at 12, filet mignon and trimmings for just $20 each......BUT I need to know you will be there so I can plan accordingly.....This annual event is sponsored by our FL UPMA Retirees and to date we have members from 14 states attending..PA, NY, NV, NC, GA, TN, MI, IN, MS, KY, CA, NJ, MN, and ND...........and 141 registered.....National Co-Presidents Clara and Tony will join us as well as Natl Co S/T Dan....For active Postmasters and other interested, President Tony will conduct a breakout session right after the general session and lunch.....

will work on getting the old "photo" off of here..from the convention in new Orleans, EAS-18 POSTMASTERS, did you know that the PMG announced that ya'll would only be reevaluated when the office is vacant?? This was accomplished through consultations with USPS Headquarters.....An example of the use of your dues dollars.....If you aren't a member, I encourage you to join today....email me and I will send you the form.....[email protected] and it is tax deductible, so are attending conventions and meetings.......COME JOIN US....

In just a few days we will head to new Orleans for our last NAPUS national convention.......We will also be there at a big time of need for our "family" in part of Louisana.....To help them immediately, we will have a table in the exhibit hall to receive gift cards that you might want to bring for distribution to those most affected. I have a list of 10 so far....It is difficult to accept clothing, toys, etc. because we have no way to distribute them. Also, many of the folks affected are just trying to get their homes livable again.....It wont happen over night. We will also offer a 50-50 daily drawing but please come to our table to purchase the tickets. NAPUS convention protocol has always been that the city/state hosting next years convention has "front and center" for fund raising at the convention just prior to theirs......Know we all understand that. Many of the known charities have such an influz of donated items but they have no storage space and no folks to sort through the items. FEMA is on hand but it takes time for even that to help and with so many applying, there is quite a backlog. The same way for insurances and PERF. Be sure and contact PERF to see how they might help you..For years, our church collection plates at national meetings have been donated to PERF. To our members and future members, know that your NAPUS/UPMA family has you and yours in our hearts and prayers....You are not walking alone. To those that don't belong to NAPUS, or UMPA in the future, now you see another pro to belonging.
Continue your prayers for folks in fires in CA and OR; floods in LA; and possible hurricane heading to S FL this weekend......Safe travels to new Orleans, come by our table in the exhibit area, sort through you registration packet carefully to find the $25 "token" to be cashed at the Signature Credit Union....Maybe you wouldn't mind sharing some of it with our LA "family".
