Last week, Sheriff Dowdy, Deputy Director of OES Sweet, CHP Sergeant Wilcox, Deputy Crowder, Deputy Harrison, Modoc High School MCORPS students Owen Romesha, Gunner Kramer, and Nash McCulley partnered to deliver an educational SIDNE Kart DUI presentation for students at Surprise Valley High School.

Using the SIDNE Kart, the team demonstrated how impaired driving affects judgment, coordination, and reaction time. Students were able to see firsthand the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence in a safe, controlled environment.

The presentation also provided an opportunity to answer questions from students and staff and encourage important conversations about making safe, responsible choices behind the wheel.

A big thank-you to everyone involved for helping make this valuable educational experience possible and for investing in the safety of our youth and community.

🐾💛K-9 Ryka and K-9 Hogle definitely made some new friends yesterday!

Excitement was in the air as we visited Alturas Elementary School.

They were greeted by 🐾little hands eager to pet them, plenty of hugs, some friendly tail pulling, and endless smiles.

🐾Laughter and giggles filled the air as students gathered on the grass to meet them and learn about the important work they do.

K-9 Handler Sergeant Nessling, K-9 Handler Sergeant Middleton, and K-9 Handler Deputy Crowder spent time with the ⭐️kindergarten classes of Mrs. Rulison and Ms. Van Havermaat, sharing information about the K-9 program while building positive connections with some of our community's youngest citizens.

Thank you, Alturas Elementary School, for ⭐️welcoming us and making our day so special.
