The Altus Police Department sends our condolences to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge Officers and the first responders in Comanche County. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Taylor’s family. Officer Taylor died a hero yesterday, putting others safety before his own.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is mourning federal wildlife officer David Taylor, 38 of Scio, Oregon, who is believed to have died while helping evacuate residents threatened by the Railroad South Fire.

Officer Taylor was going door to door alongside local emergency crews helping families get to safety. His last contact with dispatch came while he was helping a family evacuate their home. Evidence recovered from a structure where he was working to help a resident escape indicates that he died during the evacuation effort. Formal identification remains pending with the medical examiner.

Everything we know about David's actions reflects extraordinary courage, selflessness and devotion to duty.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, fellow officers and all who served alongside him. We will never forget his service.

🚨LOST PROPERTY🚨
The Altus Police Department is looking for the owner of this class ring. It was found in 1988 during an investigation, and we would like to return it to the original owner. You must be able to tell us the correct inscription on the inner-side portion of the band. You must call the Altus Police Department, at 580-482-4121, to claim this ring.

**EDIT**
For clarification~ we know the class ring is from 1969. The ring was discovered in 1988 during an investigation & submitted into property. The owner was unknown at the time. We would just like to see the owner have their property back.
