Congratulations to freshman nursing instructor at Western’s Lawton campus Jamie Ferrell, for being selected as the 2026 Teacher of the Year at Western Oklahoma State College.

The entire student body was given the chance to nominate instructors for this award. Those nominations were then given to Student Senate, and a selection was made.

Here are a few of the comments about this year's Teacher of the Year:

“She is an instructor who takes great pride in everything she says, does, and has. There's not a day where we do not learn something new from her."

"She has helped a lot with pushing students to continue with their education and not give up."

"This teacher has been the best teacher I've ever had. She deserves to be teacher of the year because of how well she treats her students, how well she explains all the information, and how she goes above and beyond to make sure we understand. I think she is very deserving of this award because she always puts her students first.

Please help us congratulate Mrs. Jamie Ferrell!
