CANDIDATE FILING BEGINS FOR CITY OF ALVA

Candidates interested in filing for Mayor of the City of Alva will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning 8 a.m. Monday, December 29.
Those who wish to file for a municipal office must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the Woods County Election Board December 29, 30 or 31, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/candidates/candidate-filing.html and at the County Election Board.
In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, candidates must also submit a Voter Registration Verification Form, which can be obtained from the County Election Board or by logging into the OK Voter Portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp.html. Information on the Voter Registration Verification Form must match the information provided on the Declaration of Candidacy.
Holly Blevins, Secretary of the Woods County Election Board, reminds candidates that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than 5 p.m. Monday, January 5 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed. Contests against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the County Election Board.
Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board office at 580-327-1452 or [email protected].
The Woods County Election Board is located at 427 Barnes Ave., Suite 2, Alva, Ok and is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The special election is scheduled for February 10, 2026.

Established under the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma in 1907, the Oklahoma State Election Board is the administrative agency for the conduct of state elections and the oversight of the state's 77 county election boards.

Early Voting begins tomorrow, September 4, in the race for County Commissioner District #1, between Willie McKinley and Damien Starks.
To be eligible to vote, you must be a registered Republican and reside within precinct 5, County Commissioner District 1.
Early voting is located at the Woods County Election Board office, 427 Barnes, Suite 2, Alva. If you have questions, call our office at 580–327–1452.

TODAY is the second and final day of Early In-Person Voting for the City of Alva and City of Waynoka Municipal General Elections. Polls are open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Don't forget your ID!!
