This Thursday from 2pm-5:30pm Author Shelby Doll will be at the library with copies of her book. Be sure to come by and meet with her!

Based in real small towns and the Little Sahara Sand Dunes of Woods County, Oklahoma, Hopeton Horror combines murder, blood, and gore with kick-your-feet giggling tension in this Midwestern Thriller, featuring no-spice romance.
An escaped convict roaming the countryside isn't the only monster among rural residents.
Lizzy returns to Hopeton to bury her estranged mother and figure out what to do with her childhood home. Not wanting to make any drastic decisions, she moves back in and takes a position as art instructor on Alva's college campus while she makes up her mind. Here she meets Casey. After a memorable first impression, she can't shake the thought of him. He pops up everywhere she turns, eventually crossing her mind without approval as she searches for his face in the crowd. At her weakest moment, struggling under the unexpected grief, Lizzy opens up to Casey and decides to take a chance on him.
Casey hates life. A failed su***de attempt leaves him hungry for purpose that he can't quite seem to find until he makes his first kill. Turns out, it gets much easier after that. Enlisting the help of a partner, Geoffrey, they use the escape of a convict as cover for their heinous deeds.
Geoffrey has nothing to lose with his family gone. All that's left is his cattle hauler, booze, and a temper.
When Lizzy becomes as important to him as killing, what is Casey to do? Consequences meant for him rear their head with Lizzy square in the crosshairs. She doesn't expect to be gambling with her life.
Murder, fire, and the seemingly endless sands of Little Sahara State Park; there is much more to Hopeton than meets the eye.

Libraries fight the 'summer learning slide,' through building a better future for kids across the country with Summer Readingβ€”and Second Lady Usha Vance is on the same page. Children in grades K-8 are invited to join her Summer Reading Challenge, choosing 12 books of any genre to read by September 4.

Each finished title goes in the log, which parents or guardians then submit for prizes and a chance to visit Washington, D.C. Families already participating in a Summer Reading program will find it easy to enter. Invite customers to check out this opportunity from Second Lady Vance. Visit the website below to get involved this summer!

Here’s how it works:
πŸ“š Read a book
πŸ“ Write a short review
βœ… Earn a punch
Pick up your punch card and review sheets at either the library or Alva Beer Co. Turn completed reviews back in at either location and start collecting punches.
⭐ 5 punches = entry for a small prize
πŸ† 10 punches = entry for the grand prize
Whether you’re a bookworm or just looking for a reason to pick up a new read, this is a fun way to spend your summer, support literacy, and maybe win a prize or two along the way.
Huge thanks for the library for allowing us to collaborate on this! As one of our beer tenders said, β€œCarly, your English teacher is showing.” πŸ“š
